The project of Maison des Métallos- a cultural establishment of the city of Paris- is as unique as its dynamic programming. The venue attempts to bring together a range of activities which traditionally remain distinct and are separated, such as professional and amateur artistic expression, bodies of knowledge from multiple disciplines, and intellectual and community events. The diverse activities and identities thus involved are often united through common themes: new approaches to bodies and health, the necessity to live and think differently in a plurality of cultures, relationships between artists and society, relationships with the environment. The result is a dynamic of friction and mutual enrichment through exchange. Parties, debates, and workshops, along with performances, draw people of every description into the bubbling cultural stew.
