The sweet fragrance of Parisian chic pervades this beautiful tearoom set under a lofty 19th century glass roof (Galerie Vivienne). Salads are hearty, home-made pastries are delightful and teas - Darjeeling, Orange Pekoe, Bergamot, and so on - are well worth trying. The place is also famous for its home-made desserts and particularly its delicious Fruit Crumble. The venue gets crowded at weekends when its famous brunch is being served. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Informal and inexpensive |
Rue de Grenelle Paris 75007 France +33 1 4222 5946 |
Tucked away in the corner of the chic and cher 7th arrondissement, Le Basile is a bastion for those seeking the casual and cheap. Students from the nearby Sciences-Po come to loudly debate politics over espresso. The vibe is retro and mod, with bright red furnishings, a giant portrait of Mick Jagger, and bright, airy windows. While the food is serviceable and inexpensive, the real draw at Le Basile is the atmosphere. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casual Coffee |
15 Rue Lepic Paris 75018 France +33 14 254 9050 |
Café des Deux Moulins is the same cafe that featured in the much loved 2001 film Amelie. You can tell by the 1950's decor inside. The small typical French cafe has definitely gotten attention after the success of the movie and is visited by both native and foreign customers. A large poster of Amelie saying 'Amelie thanks you' hangs on one of the walls. Other than this the cafe is like any other French cafe with a low lit and warm atmosphere inside, where just coffee and casual conversations take place. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Lanvin chic |
15 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré Paris 75008 France +33 1 4471 3232 |
It's quite unusual to find a café in the formal universe of the Parisian Haute Couture. Famous designer Lanvin innovated and created a beautiful place with a truly chic decor in which blue and ochre prevail. The venue caters for businessmen, bank managers, and customers...in short - VIPs! A nice place to drink a cup of coffee or tea after walking around this chic part of the city. Expect to pay EUR2.60 for a coffee. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located right above the shop bearing the same name, this high-class café which opened in 1989 caters for an even higher class and mostly feminine clientele. You'll like the cream and green decor if you enjoy going in posh and luxurious places... Of course the café price list is up to the clientele's means! Expect to pay EUR2.30 for a coffee and some EUR20 for a light lunch (salads and fine cakes). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Contemporary decor |
1 Rue des Fossés-Saint-Bernard Place Mohammed V Paris 75005 France +33 1 4051 3838 |
The decor here is contemporary and very plain: black and metal could mislead people into thinking of this venue as a cold one. Every Wednesday evening, lectures or debates involving Arabian and Oriental writers gather a growing number of people. The second point of interest about this place is the breathtaking view of Paris from the top floor. In any case, after visiting the I.M.A. (the Institute of the Arabian World), you'll probably feel like stopping here for a while. Review © 2007, Wcities |
