Theater of The Great Classics |
16 Boulevard Saint Martin Paris 75010 +33 14 208 0693 http://www.portestmartin.com/ |
This ancient theater was constructed in the early 18th century to welcome the Royal Academy of music. It burned down during the Paris Commune in 1870, but was then reopened under the same name in 1873 with Victor Hugo's Marie Tudor. From then on it has continued to have a long and splendid history of classic theatrical productions, such as Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac in 1897. Today it offers a program that pays homage to the great classics as well as contemporary productions. The theater seats 1000 people. Review © 2009, Wcities |
