Not for the faint hearted but with the quality of instruction and years of expertise behind this team, the experience will leave you feeling you can conquer anything. Adventure Out runs a variety of recreational, corporate and school programmes with abseiling, rock climbing and navigational skills the key components. If you are new at this, a good place to start is the one-day abseiling trip or for budding rock climbers the two-day course. Paddlers and power craft enthusiasts, from around Australia and the world, test their endurance levels in this race. From Northam to Bayswater, competitors pace themselves over the 133-kilometre course dotted with grade four rapids. Started in 1973, the Avon Descent now attracts more than 1,000 competitors annually. For the best spectator spots check the website. The association is the representative body of climbers in Western Australia. It facilitates climbing, rescue and rope work courses, and, organises and promotes sport climbing championships.Members climb regularly on rock faces near Perth, north to the spectacular gorges of Kalbarri and down to the crags of the southwest capes. Social and training nights are organised in Perth's climbing gyms mid week. Members receive a quarterly magazine, discounts at climbing suppliers and gyms, and the benefits of group travel to crags.
