Metro clubbing in the southern suburbs |
2149 Albany Highway Gosnells Perth, WA 6110 Australia +61 (0)8 9389 2224 |
Located above Ogdens Gosnells Hotel, the Cactus Club is a local alternative to Northbridge and city nightlife. Compared to the frantic clubbing atmosphere of Northbridge, Cactus is a welcome change. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. DJ's Midfield and Ritchie G mix a combination of old classics, Top 40 hits and commercial dance tunes. Dance, have a drink at the bar, a chat on the sofas or relax on the verandah. The normal range of club drinks are available at the usual prices--AUD4-AUD10. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Convivial pub, superb seafood |
51 Cantonment Street Perth, WA 6160 Australia +61 (0)8 9335 1351 http://www.clancysfishpub.com.au |
Take the friendliest country pub add a city chef's panache, fresh local seafood and fine acoustic sounds. Mix them with the charm of the Irish and you might get a place like Clancy's. The dining area has quirky seashore motifs and the homey back verandah, shaded by gum trees, is a family space where children play. Sunday afternoon music sessions are the height of conviviality. Great live music on weekend nights too! To eat? Seafood of course. Everything from fish and chips to a laden seafood platter. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Everybody--yes everybody--dances. Each show has guest artists, as well as the regular cast. If you want to participate, Club West members meet on Fridays to rehearse then they party on afterwards. Music Mania at Mojo's |
237 Queen Victoria Street Perth, AU 6159 Australia +08 9430 4010 |
Mojo's is a must for anyone on the lookout for the cutting edge in Austrailian music. The club's policy of promoting new and emergent, obscure or otherwise unknown bands via their informal CD marketplace allows customers to access sounds they might not discover otherwise. As the longest running venue for live music in Perth, Mojo's sells artists' CD's with no commission charge, but requires a free CD for the bar to play during business hours. Help support Australia's local bands and enjoy the live shows! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Alternative clubbing |
104 Murray Street Perth, WA 6000 Australia +61 (0)8 9325 3638 |
Loft is known as Perth's only alternative nightclub. One regular describes the scene as being a different experience every night. Sunday is 80s night so wear big hair and walk like an Egyptian. The interior is sheer decadence. The decor is dark, replete with ripped up and gaffer-taped black leather sofas. Music ranges from New Order to the Blur and everything in between (except on Sundays). Try the Loft's own concoctions with music-themed names. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Friendly local pub |
2 South Terrace Perth, WA 6160 Australia +61 (0)8 9335 2428 |
The Newport offers a great venue to enjoy a drink and catch up with friends. By day it plays host to a handful of devoted beer drinkers, but at night this place really comes alive. There are two bar areas and a beer garden. The front bar features pool tables, pinball machines, Daytona and Virtual Cop. DJ's Jong and Jason mix Fremantle's best dance on Friday and Saturday nights. Live music is also a regular feature at the Newport, particularly local alternative music. Spirits and beers, including the usual range of Emu bitter, Emu draught and Swan gold. Drink and Dance |
141 Scarborough Beach Road Mount Hawthorn Perth, WA 6016 Australia +61 8 9242 3077 |
The first thing that you will notice about this pub is the loud music and the second would be the smell of beer. You can swing to the beat of the live bands on weeknights, and if you have had a bit too much to drink, you can hang around the pool tables. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated and trendy |
221 William St (Northbridge) Perth, WA 6003 Australia +61 (0)8 9227 6771 http://www.universalbar.com.au |
This is a popular hangout for jazz lovers and beautiful people. What seems spacious by day becomes congested by night, as live blues and jazz artists take to the tiny stage. The intimate ambiance suits the mood as the night progresses and the crowd moves in. The food menu offers snacking and finger foods (AUD4-AUD14.50) and the usual range of alcohol and soft drinks. Try a cocktail, which will set you back around AUD10, but it is worth it just for the decoration. Review © 2007, Wcities |
