The First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia was established in 1796 under the supervision of Joseph Priestly, an English scientist and Unitarian minister. It was the first church in North America to call itself Unitarian. The current building at this location was designed by Frank Furness, a famous architect from Philadelphia, who was able to combine his unique drafting style with the religious tradition of the Church, to create this registered landmark. Free tours are offered by appointment. Review © 2009, Wcities |
