This style of martial art has its roots in the Taoist and Buddhist traditions of China. It is based on animal boxing, in which seven animal styles are taught, including the dragon, tiger, crane, snake, eagle, monkey and phoenix. High and low stances and kicks, aerials and ground fighting, make it impossible to classify this as purely northern or southern in style and the blending of Chinese and Southeast Asia martial arts has resulted in a unique Sino-Vietnamese style.
