Striped Bass is the city's most popular dining institution, and a world-famous seafood restaurant. Every dish is gorgeously presented and exquisite: Yellowfish Tuna Tartar drizzled with Asian ginger miso dressing, Canadian Hard Shell Lobster garnished with red cabbage, cauliflower puree and Tarragon lobster cream, and Oysters simmered in a Champagne Mignonette broth. For dessert, taste the Chocolate Fondant Cake with Earl Gray sorbet and Mint Coulis, or the Strawberry Mascarpone Torte with vanilla poached rhubarb and strawberry-balsamic sorbet. The marvelously crafted entrees fit with the elegance and beauty of the restaurant. The marble columns, tall windows with gray drapery, luxurious palms, flower arrangements and crystal chandeliers with dimmed lighting create a comfortable and intimate environment for all customers. Owner Steven Starr trained his highly skilled kitchen staff, and acclaimed chef, Alfred Portale, to present top quality meals and service. Striped Bass is a pricy restaurant, but worth the tab.
