World Champion Hoop Dance Contest

Native American healing dance
2301 North Central Avenue
(at the Heard Museum)
Phoenix, AZ 85004
+1 602 252 8848

Early February brings this colorful, creative and memorable event to the Heard Museum. Hoop Dancing was originally part of a healing ceremony meant to restore balance and harmony; to Native Americans it symbolizes the connectedness of the life cycles. Dancers from the United States and Canada representing various tribes compete in one of the few competitions held in this country. In colorful buckskin costumes, using as many as 50 hoops, performers symbolically demonstrate the grace and exactness of this Native American dance tradition. Admission: Adults USD10, Seniors USD9, Children (4-12) USD3, Children (under 4) Free.
