The new sports hall has multi-activity sessions every week, including five-a-side football, badminton, table tennis and basketball. There are eight indoor and two outdoor tennis courts, which are covered in the winter, so you can play whatever the weather. There are also three squash and four badminton courts to complete the racquets facilities. This is one of the "Centres for Excellence" for sailing in the UK. It was funded through Sports Lottery and European finance totalling over £4 million and built on a former Air Force base on the Mount Batten peninsula. It offers a wide range of activities for watersports enthusiasts including sailing, diving, powerboat racing, Cornish gig racing and even angling. Landlubbers are catered for as well, with mountain biking, caving and orienteering. The facilities are ideal, with wide slipways, 100 metre mooring pontoon, and ample parking for cars and dinghies. Access to the Plym estuary, Plymouth Sound and adjoining rivers is easy and direct. There is also purpose built accommodation, with facilities for 60 people residentially, lecture rooms, bars, and a conference room for 150 people. Review © 2007, Wcities |
