Through downtown and up into the hills, this is a serious walk, but a good one. Along with a little sweat—or a little rain if it's the usual local weather—you'll find an old part of Portland in historic homes built on Kings Hill, from the 1871 Kamm, an ancient house that is one of the last of its kind here, to the 1927 Holtz, a Jacobethan home with incredible cast-stone copings on high roof lines.
