Send your senses into orbit when you visit Sweetwater's Jam House, a very funky restaurant in Southeast Portland. From festive palm fronds to soothing lighting, the island feel is unmistakable. The full bar stocks enough liquor to meet anyone's cocktail tastes. The detail-conscious owners create homemade salsas and appetizers daily using only Oregon ingredients. Appetizers are decidedly Jamaican and include alligator tenderloins and curry potato patties. The coconut shrimp and BBQ pork spareribs are just some of the other menu samplings. For a delicious dessert, order the Guava-Cheese Empanada, a Cuban pastry.
