A palpable sense of sophisticated refinement oozes from every mirrored corner of this famous art nouveau café. The hotel was rebuilt around 1905 in the voluptuous style of the day: all swirling, anthropomorphic forms, mirrors and gilt. A central ellipse reveals an upper gallery, which is only open at breakfast time to hotel guests. Not surprisingly considering the location, prices are on the high side, with even coffees and desserts coming heavy on your wallet. However, by all means stick your head in for a look around. A cover charge may be levied for the live music that can be heard every afternoon and evening.
