Reasonable quality and moderate prices more than make up for the extremely limited selection at this coffee bar in the courtyard of the National Gallery's European Old Masters wing. It's all the more attractive considering decent refreshment stops are shockingly hard to find in the Castle district. The artful interior design here makes it a place worth lingering in. Ornate picture frames line the walls but they frame no paintings, just the soothing ochre-colored plaster beneath. One or two large, apparently genuine old seascapes complement the scene. Basic coffees, beer, wine and a tiny selection of sweets and sandwiches are on offer. Review © 2009, Wcities
