Jeleni 9 Prague 11800 Czech Republic +420 2 2437 3178 http://www.fcca.cz |
This non-profit organization which is slowly being weened off George Soros' Open Society cultural program puts on a variety of exhibitions, workshops and lectures by local and international artists in its cozy, modest venue near the castle. Its multimedia laboratory hosts one of the city's few internet radio projects (Radio Jeleni) and provides support for a number of events in and around Prague. It is truly one of the best grassroots projects/venues for artists and musicians in the city. Its summer workshops are held in various venues outside Prague, such as the Cimelice Chateaux. Secrets of the City |
Staromestske namesti 1 (beneath Old Town Hall) Prague 11000 Czech Republic http://www.pragamystica.cz |
This attraction meanders along the medieval cellars beneath the Old Town Hall. As the name suggests, the aim is to recapture the mysterious essence of Prague and the symbolic connections linking different cultural eras across the centuries. Visitors pass through 17 different stages in the city's life, from the earliest geological discoveries to the Renaissance. Dioramas, replica historical and archaeological artefacts, and moody sound effects create the atmosphere. It is intended to be equally accessible to visitors from all lands. The exhibition uses no text, so visitors wanting more background might want to purchase the catalogue before setting out on this magical mystery tour. Review © 2007, Wcities |
