First of its kind |
Ujezd 16 Prague 11800 Czech Republic +420 2 5731 0694 http://www.bohemiabagel.cz/ |
Bohemia Bagel is Prague's first bagel bakery. Hand-rolled and baked on the premises, the bagels come in a huge variety of flavors from poppy and sesame to sun-dried tomato and basil. Top any one of these with one of their five cream cheeses (the honey, walnut and raisin is a local favorite). If you want something more filling, try any one of a number of fresh sandwiches like Turkey Club, Marinated Chicken Breast, Int'l Rueben to name but a few. They also serve fresh quiche, soups and salads daily. For dessert, dive into moist, homemade brownies or a chocolate/espresso cheese cake. A gourmet coffee should nicely top it all off. The staff here are primarily Czech, but the clientele sometimes seems to be predominantly made up of ex-pats and lost-looking American backpackers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A late night favorite |
Masarykovo Nabrezi 22 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 2491 8589 |
They open early and close late here and in between this classy yet casual spot does almost everything. Its large menu includes above average salads, pastas and a few meat dishes. Drinks including cocktails, are likewise cheap and served nicely. Popular with everyone and for good reason, it is one of the very few places where women of all ages can come for a drink and not expect to be harassed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

America for breakfast, Thailand for dinner |
Štepánská 61 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 9623 6513 |
Newly opened spot in the downtown Lucerna complex featuring the odd-but-appealing combination of American-style breakfast and Thai dinners. Pancakes, eggs, omelettes and more cereal than you can shake a stick at make up the morning menu. Free coffee refills after the first cup are a plus and certainly not the norm in Prague. Dinner courses include Sate Skewer in hot pepper sauce, Kangaroo Steak, and Pork Fillet with Shitake Mushrooms in red coconut sauce. Veggie options are highlighted by the Spicy Fried Aubergine. Expat and backpacker's favorite |
Malostranské námestí 7 Prague 11800 Czech Republic +420 2 2423 3137 |
This place offers one of the largest Tex-Mex menus with tasty burritos. Wash down whatever you're eating with a draft beer. Heineken is on offer if you get tired of the Czech brew. The small downstairs dance bar is usually full of native English speakers and those wishing to meet them. Get a specially designed Jo's tattoo and you'll never have to pay for another dinner here for the rest of your life. Ask for details. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Slick central Italian |
Havelska 27 Prague, Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 224 214 543 http://www.kogo.cz/ |
Hands down this is the runaway favourite for mid-priced Italian food in a downtown location and for once the crowds have it right. The large menu is excellent, featuring pizza, pasta, meat and fish. Indoor and outdoor seating resemble a sleek Milanese trattoria but without the brusque service. In fact the multi-lingual waiting staff often bend over backwards to accommodate diners even in the face of a packed dining room. As it is especially crowded at lunch, reservations are recommended.
