Authentic French cuisine. |
Schwaigerova 59/3 Plavecka 4 Prague 16000 Czech Republic +420 2 2492 1853 http://www.bistrotdemarlene.cz/ |
Situated one block east of the Vltava where traditional Czech pubs run rampant, Le Bistrot de Marlene's French menu is a refreshing option. Once you venture past the velvety curtain at the door, a tastefully decorated quaint restaurant awaits. The menu offers a healthy selection of authentic French dishes of poultry and beef. The meal prices are high by Czech standards but all major credit cards are accepted. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Timeless, elegant city-centre oasis |
Vítezná 5 Prague 11800 Czech Republic +420 2 5731 1562 http://www.ambi.cz/ |
Spacious and unhurried, this elegant café at the edge of Mala Strana is rarely troubled by tourist overload and makes a good refuge from the hustle and bustle of the town center. A small fountain at the entrance adds a touch of class and the lofty, extravagantly decorated 19th-century ceiling adds real character to this century-old room. The usual coffees and sweets (including a superb apple strudel) are complemented by a small drinks list and a few offerings for those wanting a salad or a full meal. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Best bistro in town |
Hastalska 12 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2231 5676 |
You'd be forgiven for thinking you were in Paris instead of Prague when you walk in here. All the classic bistro features can be found, from the red-checkered tablecloths to the white-aproned waiters. The food is hardly an exception either, with omeletes and that bistro staple chicken with fries. Slightly more fancy is the duck with olives and potatoes. The staff is friendly and efficient. For the Fondue Lover in You! |
Slezská 20 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 2 2425 0758 / +420 2 2425 0459 |
Chicken in Wine Fondue, Three Cheese Fondue and Chili Fondue feature on the menu of this eatery. All fondue entrees are for two people and a whole list of extras is also available. A substantial choice of chicken and pork dishes is an option for those unwilling to try the house specialty. The interior is a bit on the drab side but romantic berths make up for this. Sophistication meets eclectic hipness |
Opatovická 5 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2491 6047 |
The French-Californian cuisine mixes and matches the best of two culinary dream worlds. The climax of the fresh, innovative menu is the chef's choice: a five-course taster menu which changes according to his whims. But trust his taste. Otherwise, dive into the smoked corn soup first before testing the grilled quail with steamed spinach or the roasted beef tenderloin with potato truffle. The internation wine list complements everything. The dessert tray will bring even the most demanding sweets connoisseur to his knees. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hergetova Cihelna Bar & Restaurant offers a sophisticated setting for fine dining and drinking. The outside terrace has stunning views of Charles Bridge, one of Prague's most popular attractions. Their menu caters to a wide variety of tastes. With cuisine from Asia, Europe and America, you can be sure that what you're craving can be found on their menu. The bar, separate from the restaurant, has a wide assortment of alcoholic bevarages. On the weekends, a DJ is usually playing here. Whether you're after the food or the drinks, this is a great place to spend your evening. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Exclusivity and plush surroundings |
Karoliny svetle 35 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2222 0518 |
Don't be put off by the speakeasy effect of the dark, unlit entrance in a quiet corner of the Old Town where there is not much going on. Push on further into the apartment building entrance where you will find the restaurant complete with plush furnishings. A lone pianist in the corner creates the perfect atmosphere for romance while guests peruse the handwritten menu featuring the day's treats which usually consist of Czech meat dishes and continental-style pasta and seafood. A respectable collection of Moravian vintages nicely complements the meal. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Romantic views from the Dancing Building |
Rašínovo nábreží 80 Dancing House - Tancící dum Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 2 2198 4160 http://www.laperle.cz/ |
Located atop the most controversial architectural feat of the last decade, the Dancing Building, this restaurant is sassy and knows it. The St. Peter's fish in champagne sauce is a favorite entrée as is the duck breast in port wine sauce. A heavenly dessert tray offers rich chocolate and fruit cakes. Step outside on the rooftop terrace and take in the stunning view of the castle views over coffee or cognac. The Michelin guide claims this to be "the best French restaurant in Prague." Very expensive hotel restaurant |
Pod Bruskou 7 Hoffmeister Hotel Prague 11800 Czech Republic +420 2 5101 7111 http://www.hoffmeister.cz/hote... |
Don't be surprised if you are seated next to a Czech member of parliament or pop star in this space which is tucked into Castle Hill on a small winding road, with the whole of the Little Quarter below. Priding itself on being "devoted to gourmets and connoisseurs", the Ada combines French and international dishes with more traditional Czech cuisine. Pineapple with prawns or smoked salmon is a solid starter as is the veal sweetbread while the baked pigeon entrée comes from the restaurant's farm. The 'Easter duck' entrée is also a local favorite. All charm and class, the Ada is located in one of the best hotels in the city - the Hoffmeister. Drawings by its founder - the Czech artist Adolf Hoffmeister - line the walls of the restaurant. A sophisticated dining experience |
Husova 5 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2424 8512 http://www.flambee.cz/ |
Sophisticated yet relaxed, this Old Town restaurant - located in stone-vaulted, 14th-century cellars - is believed to offer one of the best romantic dining experiences in the city. Medieval choral music greets visitors as they make their way down to soft lighting, fountains and a lobster aquarium. A combination French-Czech menu with vintages to match is divinely prepared by the team of chefs who have represented the country on several occasions at international culinary events. The restaurant has won heaps of awards including Restaurant of the Year on multiple occasions and has hosted the likes of Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and The Rolling Stones. Review © 2007, Wcities |

In style and elegance |
U milosrdnych 6 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2231 2677 http://www.lascene.cz/ |
Nestled in the quiet corner of busy Prague, la Scène is style and elegance personified. The restaurant is tastefully done with dim lights, classy furniture and stylish design. The food speaks for itself. Dishes like Marinated Salmon with honey, Old Fish Mustard and Apple Roll with chocolate sauce and ice cream make you want more! Check out their wine and champagne list—it's one of the best in town. Hit the Champagne and Cigar Club if you enjoy smoking, and play the piano while you are there! Of course it is a little heavy on your pocket but you will be more than satisfied with the food, ambience and staff. The place is the finest—after all, Mozart played here once! Five nationalities in one |
Jecná 5 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 2492 0509 |
Don't let the ambiguous location discourage you from this restaurant. Turn those few extra corners and you will discover its charming patio and entrance. One look at the menu will immediately set this restauarant apart from others in the city. Dishes representing cuisine from France, Italy, Norway, Ireland and Mexico sprinkle the page. Although each nationality is only allocated a few dishes, the overall choice is large and obviously diverse. The décor is a skillful blend of furnishings characteristic of each of the 5 regions. Exquisite cellar restaurant |
Vaclavske namesti 26 Hotel Adria Prague, Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2108 1202 http://english.tritonrestauran... |
The contrast is stark between the bright, renovated Hotel Adria at street level and the cave-like interior (complete with impressions of scenes from ancient mythology) of its restaurant below. Yet there is something about the unusual ambience of the place which makes it popular with locals, business folk and tourists. Candle-lit and romantic, the restaurant offers French and international dishes alongside more standard Czech fare. A good selection of French and Moravian wines complement the cuisine. Worth a visit for its originality alone, the Triton's live acts often get the place jumping. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Modern French cooking |
Betlemske 9 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2222 0716 |
This hip-looking French restaurant and wine bar is still one of the best kept secrets in town. The food is perfectly prepared and presented and offered at affordable prices. Dishes include rabbit with rosemary, hen in bouillabaisse, and a wonderful Mediterranean lamb stew. Low-key trip hop music and a subdued colour scheme make for a mellow atmosphere and diners eat beneath maps detailing the culinary regions of France. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Mad cow, anyone? |
Rubešova 10 Vinohrady Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 2423 9570 http://www.bilakrava.cz/ |
Beef lovers will think they have died and gone to heaven as this rustic spot specializes in steaks from the succulent Charlois brand from the Burgundy region of France. Steak options start at EUR8 and go up up up while poultry dishes are highlighted by the turkey breast with almond stuffing. Of the Provencal style seafood, sea-tongue with prawns is especially inviting. Multi-course menus offer tasty combos and even snails are available if you're into that sort of thing. An extensive wine list, quality service, and a pleasant country kitchen atmosphere. Look for the illuminated cow head dangling outside. Review © 2007, Wcities |
