Excellent value for money |
Na Strzi 5/343 Prague 14000 Czech Republic +420 2 4244 2599 http://www.pizzeriealdo.cz/ |
One of the better Czech-owned Italian joints in the city, Aldo specializes in pizzas. A wide selection of well-prepared pasta dishes, soups and salads round out the offering. But if visitors make the trip out from the center, a tasty, red sauce pie should be first on their minds. Service is far above the local norm, reflecting the friendly, neighborhood atmosphere, and a good selection of Czech and Italian wines and Czech beers are served. Simply decorated, family photos hang on the walls. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Pizza Native American style |
Belehradská 4 Nusle Prague 14000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 4174 1580 / +420 (0)2 6121 5622 http://www.baretta.cz/ |
Basing their take on pizza on an old tale of an Italian who went to America during the 16th century to discover the pleasures of the famed red sauce pie among Native Americans, this easy—going joint exudes a relaxed, no-worries sentiment within the tomahawks, bison heads and other Native American décor which gives this place its off-beat character—regardless of the accuracy of their pizza history. Inexpensive pizzas are served up Czech style—no mozzarella but edam cheese—along with a wide array of pastas and salads. The place feels a bit like a college hang-out considering the low-prices and mostly young clientele. The delivery traffic keeps the place humming. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A late night favorite |
Masarykovo Nabrezi 22 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 2491 8589 |
They open early and close late here and in between this classy yet casual spot does almost everything. Its large menu includes above average salads, pastas and a few meat dishes. Drinks including cocktails, are likewise cheap and served nicely. Popular with everyone and for good reason, it is one of the very few places where women of all ages can come for a drink and not expect to be harassed. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Opulent setting for affordable pizzas and Italian basics and for more expensive seafood. A wide array of pizza and pasta dishes are complemented by fish specialties, including the delicious sounding hogfish in boiled spinach. A range of meat dishes round out the menu. Regal courtyard seating when warm and service to match. Note that the pizzeria is located in the building next to the more expensive restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Homemade pasta and quality ingredients |
Vinohradska 142 Prague, Prague 13000 Czech Republic +420 2 6731 0378 |
Though winning few points with its name, this upbeat little mom-and-pop joint serves up some of the best Italian in town. The first check mark for quality is the fact that they use real, homemade pasta, which is sometimes difficult to find in the land of pork and dumplings. Topped in tasty red and white sauces with generous doses of olive oil, these dishes are excellent - keep both the lasagne and the tortellini in mind. For the less adventurous, meat-and-potato loving members of your party, there are continental treats such as thick steaks and chicken breast dishes. There's also a fully-stocked bar, an endless wine list (featuring both local and foreign vintages) and Pilsner Urquell on tap. The knick-knack-style décor featuring everything from off-beat art work to obscure pictures surrounds a large tree growing in the middle of the restaurant. A lone pianist playing softly at the back of the restaurant often adds a bit of atmosphere. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sophisticated Atmosphere |

Hergetova Cihelna Bar & Restaurant offers a sophisticated setting for fine dining and drinking. Located in a renovated 19th century brick factory, the building is now divided into a restaurant, bar, and music lounge. The outside terrace has stunning views of Charles Bridge, one of Prague's most popular attractions. Their menu caters to a wide variety of tastes. With cuisine from Asia, Europe and America, you can be sure that what you're craving can be found on their menu. The bar, separate from the restaurant, has a wide assortment of alcoholic bevarages. On the weekends, a DJ is usually playing here. Whether you're after the food or the drinks, this is a great place to spend your evening. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Slick central Italian |
Havelska 27 Prague, Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 224 214 543 http://www.kogo.cz/ |
Hands down this is the runaway favourite for mid-priced Italian food in a downtown location and for once the crowds have it right. The large menu is excellent, featuring pizza, pasta, meat and fish. Indoor and outdoor seating resemble a sleek Milanese trattoria but without the brusque service. In fact the multi-lingual waiting staff often bend over backwards to accommodate diners even in the face of a packed dining room. As it is especially crowded at lunch, reservations are recommended. Best Czech-owned Italian restaurant in town |
Na hrazi 32 Prague 18000 Czech Republic +420 2 6832 7640 |
The best Czech-owned Italian restaurant in town, La Palma hides a ways out in the Palmovka neighborhood, but its tasty pasta dishes and pizzas make it worth the trip. Attracting a huge lunch crowd, the restaurant's reasonable prices and large portions are hard to beat. The creamy Pomodoro Soup makes for an excellent starter while the Rigatoni alla Siciliana is a local favorite. The normal selection of Moravian wines and beers are on offer. A plus, it is situated next to the Hrabal Wall, a collage history of the famous Czech writer's life. A minus, no awards for friendly service so get ready for the 'what will it be' Czech-style approach. A reminder that you are indeed in Prague rather than Palermo. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This large new pizzeria is located in the downtown Palac Myslbek shopping center and is a good choice for reasonably priced pizzas and Italian food. There are over a dozen pizza choices. The pasta dishes include spinach ravioli and cheese. Vegetarian options include great salads and a few fish and seafood entrées. Try the Grilled Salmon with vegetables. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Possibly the best in Prague |
Jugoslávských partyzánu 8 Dejvice Prague 16000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 3334 2694 http://www.grosseto.cz/ |
Many argue that this is the king of Prague pizzerias. Judging by numbers served, it may well be the most popular. The foyer is always full of customers waiting for tables or for takeout pizzas. Don't worry though, the host professionally manages the mob and the wait is seldom long. Although it also serves enormous pasta dishes and calzones that have outgrown their plates, regular pizza remains the specialty. The selection is diverse and the pizzas are all prepared and baked at the front of the restaurant. The prices meet the Prague standard for Italian cuisine. Why not take the A metro to the end of the line and judge for yourself? Review © 2007, Wcities |

Longtime pizza favorite |
V Jircharich 12 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2493 4100 http://www.kmotra.cz/ |
One of Prague's first pizzerias and still one of the best. The wood-baked thin crusts are cheap and delicious and the crowds that have been coming for more than seven years attest to that fact. Over a dozen pizzas on offer; try the Mussel-laden Kmotra or the spicy Dabelska. A whole range of pastas are also available. There is a non-smoking section. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hidden Pizzeria |
Rimska 33 Prague, Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 7 2871 2242 |
Finding this pizzeria is not difficult. A large sign will point you in the right direction to this restaurant, situated directly behind the Divadlo Na Vinohradech on the north side of Namesti Miru. Inside customers will find a quaint restaurant modestly decorated. A large menu of Italian classics will not make this pizzeria different from others in Prague, but the quality of food is at the higher end of the spectrum. Specializing in pizza a significantly thorough selection is available to choose from, in addition to a good number of pastas, salads and soups. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A taste of Venice |
Anglicka 9 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 2 2423 7461 http://www.pizzeriavenezia.cz |
This large restaurant located a block from the National Museum, serves Venetian-style pizza. Red and white striped gondola posts pepper the interior and lamps dangle over arched doorways. A full Italian menu is also available. The pasta portions are generous and the taste is authentic. Pizzas are served for dine in customers and are also available for carry out - phone ahead for convenient pick up. The prices here are slightly lower than the Prague average. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hidden gem |
Karlovo Namesti 30 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 2 2223 1374 http://www.dicarlo.cz/en/ |
From the attractive garden area to the colorfully decorated interior, the fun atmosphere a this alley pizzeria is its most striking feature. However, as it is located on a side street behind Karlovo Namesti (Charles Square), this restaurant can be hard to find. Dress casual and come hungry. The portions are large and the selection of Italian dishes is endless. From brick fired pizzas to a number of different pasta meals, there are plenty of dishes to choose from. It is surprisingly priced below average for Italian eateries of the same caliber. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Solid line-up of pizza and pasta |
Moskevská 20 Vršovice Prague 10100 Czech Republic +420 2 7174 2685 http://www.padova.cz/ |
Housed in a large cellar space which opens onto a huge, relaxing garden, this pleasant space reveals little of what it holds down below from the outside, sharing the street level space with a divey bar. A fairly standard range of pizzas, pastas and salads is well-prepared and reasonably priced along with a decent dessert menu. Candlelit evenings and an indoor fountain create a romantic setting for couples. With few other pizzerias in the close proximity, the venue does a humming business—especially during the warmer months as the garden is the real attaction. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Romantic jazz restaurant |
Malá Štupartská 5/636 Hotel Metamorphosis Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2177 1068 http://www.hotelmetamorphis.cz... |
Wind your way down the circular stairway to this intimately restored stone-vaulted cellar dating back to 1689. Candle-lit romance awaits, along with tasty continental cuisine and a good selection of French, Italian and Czech wines. Nightly jazz picks up the pace, especially in the winter months, but come spring and summer, everyone's out relaxing with a drink or having a meal under the large tented patio facing the charming Tyn courtyard - a quieter more intimate space than the larger Old Town Square which is nearby. Expect friendly and attentive service. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Very classy restaurant |
Anglicka 15 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 2 2422 1665 |
Everything about this cellar restaurant screams elegance. From the tasteful interior decorating to the kind service, patrons who venture down the flight of stairs are sure to be satisfied. The vaulted ceilings are painted a soft clay color which accentuates the dim romantic lighting. The bar divides the restaurant and offers a central location for fast service. A creative and thorough menu is offered and covers all tastes. Servers are helpful won't neglect customers. Prices are standard for restaurants of this caliber but still won't break your budget.
