Best seafood in town |
Radisson SAS Alcron Hotel, Prague 1 Št?pánská 40 Prague 110 00 Czech Republic + 420 222 820 000 http://www.radissonsas.com/ |
Alcron is The address in Prague for fresh seafood. Executive chef Jiří Štift blends the simple with the exotic to create perfect dishes presented in an intimate, sophisticated atmosphere. Highly recommended is the smoked eel with black truffle and scrambled eggs, the lobster bisque with artichoke poivrade and shellfish oil, and the baby monkfish with foie gras. Traditional Irish food and drink |
Staromestske namesti 10 Old Town Square 10 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2482 8031 http://www.caffreys.cz/ |
A popular haunt of British and American expatriates who have yet to figure out they are in a foreign city, this pub tends to attract a noisy crowd of hooters and hollerers in an fun atmosphere. Tucked in a corner of Old Town Square, the restaurant/bar attracts its fair share of tourists stumbling by, especially those longing for a pint or needing to speak real English. In addition to traditional Irish food, with all day Irish breakfasts served from 9am, the restaurant also serves excellent seafood. Naturally, the popular drinks are Irish: Caffrey's beer (of course!) Guinness and Murphy's. On special occasions - such as St. Patrick's Day - Irish dancing and live folk music pulls in the hordes. Expect typical Irish pub decor with plenty of pictures and pub souvenirs. Review © 2007, Wcities |

You want it, they got it |
Vodickova 17 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 9623 8203 / +420 (0)2 9623 8204 http://www.casamia.cz/ |
Opulent setting for affordable pizzas and Italian basics and for more expensive seafood. A wide array of pizza and pasta dishes are complemented by fish specialties, including the delicious sounding hogfish in boiled spinach. A range of meat dishes round out the menu. Regal courtyard seating when warm and service to match. Note that the pizzeria is located in the building next to the more expensive restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Slick central Italian |
Havelska 27 Prague, Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 224 214 543 http://www.kogo.cz/ |
Hands down this is the runaway favourite for mid-priced Italian food in a downtown location and for once the crowds have it right. The large menu is excellent, featuring pizza, pasta, meat and fish. Indoor and outdoor seating resemble a sleek Milanese trattoria but without the brusque service. In fact the multi-lingual waiting staff often bend over backwards to accommodate diners even in the face of a packed dining room. As it is especially crowded at lunch, reservations are recommended. Tasty seafood treats |
Karlova 20/180 Prague 1 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2222 1218 http://www.reykjavik.cz |
It is hard to miss this restaurant, situated on the main tourist drag from Old Town Square to Charles Bridge. The Reykjavyk serves up well-prepared Icelandic dishes, with an emphasis on seafood flown in daily from the homeland. Although it also serves burgers and chicken, stick with the staple seafood treats, which are served in large portions - the lobster and salmon steak are brilliant. The interior is comfortably elegant, and the staff are friendly and capable. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Piano Bar Fun |
Dukelských Hrdinu 46 Prague 17000 Czech Republic +420 2 2080 6768 http://www.rhapsody.cz/ |
This dynamic piano bar, located in the too often neglected Holešovice district of Prague, boasts a beautiful interior, masterful pianists, and an all-star clientele. Notables from Prime Minister Vaclav Klaus to actor Michael Douglas have been spotted here at the bar, on the dance floor, or dining on one of the fine entrees like Scaloppine al Limone (veal slices on lemon sauce). The wine list is also one of the most extensive in Prague. Come on your birthday and get a free bottle of champagne to celebrate. This piano bar will definitely make for a classy and enjoyable night out. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Prague's best seafood restaurant |
Týnský dvur 5 Prague 11000 Czech Republic +420 2 2489 5447 http://www.rybitrh.cz/ |
Escape the tourist onslaught of Old Town Square, pop into the quieter Tyn Square and head down a narrow passage where you will find this restaurant hiding unassumingly in the corner. Once inside, inspect the fresh catches of the day which have been flown in (pike perch, eel and salmon, to name a few) before taking a seat in the sleek, cavernous interior. For starters, dive into sea snails in garlic butter before choosing one of the freshwater or saltwater seafood options. In the warmer months, you can enjoy a pleasant, relaxing lunch outside under the twin towers of the Church of Our Lady before Tyn. According to The New York Times, this place offers "the freshest fish in Central Europe". Review © 2007, Wcities |

Five nationalities in one |
Jecná 5 Prague 12000 Czech Republic +420 (0)2 2492 0509 |
Don't let the ambiguous location discourage you from this restaurant. Turn those few extra corners and you will discover its charming patio and entrance. One look at the menu will immediately set this restauarant apart from others in the city. Dishes representing cuisine from France, Italy, Norway, Ireland and Mexico sprinkle the page. Although each nationality is only allocated a few dishes, the overall choice is large and obviously diverse. The décor is a skillful blend of furnishings characteristic of each of the 5 regions.
