When the sweltering heat of Rome becomes unbearable and you don't have time to travel to one of Italy's heartbreakingly beautiful beaches, you settle for Ostia. Ostia is just a short metro ride away from central Rome, by taking the 30-minute 'Ostia Lido' metro from the 'Piramide' stop on the Metro B line. Once you arrive in Ostia and make your way from the metro stop to the beachfront, you will be confronted with a slew of beach clubs to choose from. There is one that stands apart and this is Faber Beach. All the way at the end of the strip, Faber Beach is not just another lot of sand on the umbrella-speckled shoreline; it is where the party's at! A DJ spins get-up-and-dance music, (often inspiring sunbathers to jump on their lounge chair and do just that) from his podium perched above the sea of gleaming bodies. The scene is body-conscious, flirtatious, youthful and fun. Under the DJ podium is a beach bar that serves fresh fruit bowls, iced coffee drinks and gelato to rejuvenate yourself throughout a long day of tanning, schmoozing and rocking-out.
