Regal fare in central venue |
26 Via Mario de' Fiori Rome, Rome 00187 +39 6 679 3335 |
Renowned for its fine cuisine, this centrally located restaurant's recipes have been handed down from Giuseppe Ranieri, who was once chef to Queen Victoria. Opened by Ranieri in 1843, the restaurant has the distinction of being the Italian capital's oldest; as one of its most prestigious, it's popular with the rich and famous. From starters right through to dessert, dining here is sublime: specialties include crepes stuffed with eight different cheeses and inventively prepared meat dishes. Desserts are worth saving room for, and the restaurant's rustico di cioccolato is a treat. Review © 2009, Wcities |
