This district is crowned by the Piazza della Repubblica. Its magnificent fountain, unveiled in 1901 and complete with four bronze statues of the Najadi, draws a steady stream of tourists and dignitaries alike, though it caused a lot of hassle when built. Flanked by the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and Diocletian's Baths, the piazza is a popular meeting spot in the San Lorenzo neighborhood. If taking the subway, hop off at the Repubblica stop.
