Walk among works of art |
Ponte Sant'Angelo Rome, Rome 00186 |
During the Middle Ages the name of the bridge was changed to the Ponte Sant'Angelo. It is almost impossible to describe all the palaces to be seen in this district, some of which are patrician. One of the area's attractions is the Via della Maschera d'Oro named after a fresco on one of the palaces, but in fact all the buildings are frescoed as the custom became popular in the 16th c. The subjects of the frescoes are mostly mythological or battle scenes. Unfortunately, pollution has damaged these works of art and only a few can still be seen. Review © 2009, Wcities |
