The Tiburtino district is situated 3 km east of the city centre. This area is famous for being home to the biggest Catholic cemetery in Rome: Campo Verano. The cemetery stretches on and on, assuring visitors that the Romans really do bury their dead in style--vast, ornate tombstones crest the sloping hilltops landscaping the hollowed grounds. Only a pleasant 20-minute walk from Rome's central railroad station, the Campo Verano is a popular tourist attraction for anyone who ever heard of the cemetery and wants to see its vast stretch for themselves.
