Trastevere

Rome
"Trastevere" is a verbal corruption of "trans Tevere," which means "across the Tiber." Narrow streets that lead to quaint homes characterize Trastevere. People that reside on this side of the river speak their own dialect and have their own local cuisine. Trastevere is the place to go for real Roman dining, and, although the ambience here during the day is quiet, the evening creates a much more festive atmosphere. This district is home to three international universities adding to the cosmopolitan flavor of the district.
