Though the summer tourists can become a bit thick at times, Trevi Fountain is well worth the effort. Relatively unvisited until the filming of Three Coins in the Fountain brought it recognition, the fountain's newly finished restoration work have turned it into one of Rome's newest 'must-see' attractions. The magnificent image of Neptune anchors the sculpture. His chariot (in the shape of a shell) is drawn by two winged horses guided by two tritons. The two carved figures flanking Neptune are representations of health and fertility. Review © 2009, Wcities |
