Capital Tea Garden

Popular dim sum
1110 T St
Sacramento, CA 95814
United States
+1 916 448 1218
Dim sum translates to "touch your heart", and this restaurant's dim sum has earned a local reputation of living up to that promise. It has the best pot stickers in town, along with steamed port and shrimp dishes. If dim sum is not your thing, the regular menu features items like XO Sauce with Jelly Fish and Oysters, and Bean Curd. The decor is really typical of a small Chinese restaurant that choose good cooking over decor and looks.

Eastern Empire

Blend of Chinese & Polynesian
460 Howe Ave
Sacramento, CA 95825
United States
+1 916 646 1698
The big Buddha statue and gurgling fish fountain appeal to kids, but its blend of traditional Chinese and Polynesian dishes is the calling card. A favorite is the Seafood Bird Nest, a combination of prawns, calamari, scallops and mixed vegetables assembled in the shape of a bird's nest. The Cashew Chicken is another star on the menu. An interesting twist on its tradition is the "Empress Fitness" menu featuring entrees prepared without cornstarch. The restaurant also has a full bar with lots of variations of pina coladas and daiquiris.

Famed Fat moves to suburbs
1500 Eureka Rd
Sacramento, CA 95678

Noted for their downtown dynasty of fine restaurants, the Fat family moves in on suburbia with its location in Roseville. The eatery features a largely Chinese menu skillfully prepared and served among rich mahogany paneling and exquisite furnishings. From the dim sum, try the Shrimp Har Gow or the Pork Shu Mei. Popular entrees include Canton pepper beef and Thai crispy chicken. For dessert, of course, try a wedge of Fats beloved banana cream pie.

There are no surprises here. The appetizers include egg rolls, pot stickers, fried won ton and egg flower soup among many others. Beef, fowl and seafood dishes are all well represented. The bird's-nest selections are a Szechuan variation on the dishes that are served in edible containers. As for Egg Foo Young, the varieties range from shrimp to crab to pork. An extensive and reasonably priced vegetarian menu includes chow mein and Kung-Pao dishes.

Osaka Sushi

Classically Designed Space
630 G Street
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 2288
http://www.osakasushi.com
Upon entering this restaurant, visitors see the gigantic aquarium full of rare coral and exotic fish. The decor is traditional Japanese with fine art on the walls. The long and relatively narrow dining area is dominated by the preparation area, which is surrounded by a shallow serving canal. When your dish is completed, it is placed by a chef on a small boat and launched on the canal. The menu selection is staggering in its diversity and number of choices. The Udon, Sushi-Sashimi and Appetizer selections alone fill two pages. There is a second location in Sacramento at 8785 Center Parkway (+1 916 689 8228).

Shanghai Garden

Chinese/Japanese mix
800 Alhambra Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95816
United States
+1 916 446 6358
Located in a trendy shopping plaza, this dining spot has great food served in a simple and comfortable atmosphere. The menu, including lunch, dinner, takeout and delivery, features the excellently prepared and presented traditional Chinese dishes. Some notable exceptions include the crabmeat cheese wontons, vegetable tempura and curry chicken. Mandarin and Hunan recipes are the specialty of this restaurant. The appetizers, six of which can be combined in the Pupu Platter sampler, are very filling and some order them as a meal.

Silver Dragon Restaurant

Happiest Chinese lunch in town
335 F St
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 1318
Red leather booths that line the wide windows look out on mature trees. The lunch menu is extensive, and reasonably priced. The menu features Kung Pao, Curry, Cashew and Hot Garlic Chicken, to name a few, as well as chicken soup; and the Silver Wrapped Chicken is a specialty appetizer. Beef and shrimp are presented in almost as diverse an array of dishes. The obligatory Foo Young, Mu Shu, Chow Mein and Chow Fun are served in a variety of dishes as well.
