This fine eatery is a traditional kosher, Jewish deli where sandwiches come as thick as a brick. More than 50 varieties of deli sandwiches are skillfully, if not quickly, prepared by a skilled staff. The smoked turkey breast sandwich is exceptional. The Reuben also comes highly recommended. Along with the sandwiches, homemade chicken noodle soup, gefilte fish, chopped liver, cheese blintzes, potato knish and a nice selection of burgers are available.

This fine-dining establishment recently moved to its new, much larger downtown location across from the E Street Plaza. The new space is easy on the eyes with beige and cream colors prominent in a grove of Grecian columns. White tablecloths, china, crystal and quietly efficient servers are part of the elegant dining atmosphere. The lunch and dinner menus feature exquisite gourmet and original Italian dishes, as well as a full bar.

Sophia's Thai Kitchen & Bar

Exotic Thai Delicacies
129 E Street
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 4333
http://www.sophiasthaikitchen.com
Regarded by many Davis residents as the best Thai food in town, Sophia's Thai Kitchen and Bar is often packed to the brim. Soft lighting and dark wood set the tone of the decor inside, while a high window overlooks a shaded courtyard where outdoor dining is available year-round. All the dishes on the menu reflect the chef's native Thai heritage and flair for spice, and the variety of fresh ingredients go a long way in creating that a memorable flavor. Be sure to start off the meal with some of the "Appi-Thai-zers," especially the specialty Tod Mun corn fritters. Other specials include the sour-and-spicy soups, Boss' Favorite Green Curry, and Basil with Peanut Sauce. The restaurant also has a popular bar adjoining it, so drinks are available during dinner.

Squeeze Inn

Best burgers in town
7918 Fruitridge Rd
Sacramento, CA 95820
United States
+1 916 386 8599
Take its name literally; if you drive too fast, you will miss this tiny eatery. The decor is not anything special, a few boxing posters and pictures of big fish. The lack of elbowroom is more than made up for by the size of its burgers. The "Squeeze Burger," is a third of a pound of ground chuck with a cornucopia of fixings all squeezed in to a huge whole grain bun.

Sudwerk Restaurant and Brewery

Beer capers
2001 Second Street
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 8700
http://www.sudwerk.com/
Sudwerk is a great place to catch a fast meal and some beer! Copper-colored kettles and huge circular structured seats make up the decor. The ambience is very unruly, with noise levels touching the top of the decibel chart! The food is all German and you should give the sausages, burgers and sandwiches a try. While you're in the lobby gulping the food down, walk over to the bar for some exquisite Sudwerk beer. All the beer is brewed in accordance with "Reinheitsgebot"—the German purity law. It can get boisterous in here, but that's the fun of it all!

Taqueria Davis

Real Mexican food
505 L St
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 8453
For a taste of authentic Mexican cookery, this, the oldest taqueria (Mexican restaurant) in Davis is the place to go. The menu consists of typical tacos, burritos and tortas, with some rather exotic ingredient choices including cabeza (beef brains). The appetizers include an interesting shrimp cocktail, the sauce of which has a hot peppery tang. The breakfast menu is more extensive than offered in most Mexican taquerias and includes eggs any way you want them, a variety of meats, rice, beans and tortillas.

All stir-and pan-fried dishes are cooked in canola oil and MSG is not used in the preparation of menu items. The Pad Thai Noodles are made with chicken, sprouts, prawns, tofu, egg, chives and peanuts. All dishes on the menu retain their traditional Thai names; however, the menu does have English subtitles. At this dining spot, you can request that the temperature (in terms of spiciness) be adjusted according to your taste; for example, from mild to very hot.
