Amarin Thai Cuisine

Low-fat, vegetarian Thai cuisine
900 12th St
Sacramento, CA 95814
United States
+1 916 447 9063
http://www.amarinsacramento.com
A compact place with an emphasis on the healthy side of Thai cuisine. Wide windows, bold primary colors and intricate Thai murals seemingly add to the size of the dining room. Curries are used liberally in a variety of exotic entrees such as "Path Pak" (Thai stir fry) and "Mussamun" (tofu in mild coconut milk curry). The menu consists of a plethora of tofu dishes, tofu combined with just about every veggie and spice imaginable. The seven-page menu also offers a rich assortment of seafood and stir-fry noodle dishes. There is a second location in Folsom at 6608 Folsom-Auburn Rd, Ste 9 (+1 916 988 8581).

Fat's Asia Bistro & Dim Sum Bar

Famed Fat moves to suburbs
1500 Eureka Rd
Sacramento, CA 95678

Noted for their downtown dynasty of fine restaurants, the Fat family moves in on suburbia with its location in Roseville. The eatery features a largely Chinese menu skillfully prepared and served among rich mahogany paneling and exquisite furnishings. From the dim sum, try the Shrimp Har Gow or the Pork Shu Mei. Popular entrees include Canton pepper beef and Thai crispy chicken. For dessert, of course, try a wedge of Fats beloved banana cream pie.

Lemon Grass Restaurant

Old Saigon Cuisine with a French Accent
601 Munroe St
Sacramento, CA 95825
United States
+1 916 486 4891

This dining spot is decorated with bright colors. Start with the salad rolls, which are tiny tubular rice-paper rolls stuffed with the prawns' tiny cousins, baby shrimp, along with mint and fresh bean sprouts. A table of four will be made happy by an order of lemon grass soup, a truly gigantic bowl with lemon grass being the distinctive tone in an orchestra of flavors including chicken and mushroom.

Sophia's Thai Kitchen & Bar

Exotic Thai Delicacies
129 E Street
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 758 4333
http://www.sophiasthaikitchen.com
Regarded by many Davis residents as the best Thai food in town, Sophia's Thai Kitchen and Bar is often packed to the brim. Soft lighting and dark wood set the tone of the decor inside, while a high window overlooks a shaded courtyard where outdoor dining is available year-round. All the dishes on the menu reflect the chef's native Thai heritage and flair for spice, and the variety of fresh ingredients go a long way in creating that a memorable flavor. Be sure to start off the meal with some of the "Appi-Thai-zers," especially the specialty Tod Mun corn fritters. Other specials include the sour-and-spicy soups, Boss' Favorite Green Curry, and Basil with Peanut Sauce. The restaurant also has a popular bar adjoining it, so drinks are available during dinner.

Thai Recipes

No MSG
132 E St
Sacramento, CA 95616
United States
+1 530 759 2099
All stir-and pan-fried dishes are cooked in canola oil and MSG is not used in the preparation of menu items. The Pad Thai Noodles are made with chicken, sprouts, prawns, tofu, egg, chives and peanuts. All dishes on the menu retain their traditional Thai names; however, the menu does have English subtitles. At this dining spot, you can request that the temperature (in terms of spiciness) be adjusted according to your taste; for example, from mild to very hot.

Vientiane

Fine traditional Thai cooking
2480 W Capitol Ave
Sacramento, CA 95691
United States
+1 916 373 1556
Although this dining spot is small, the aroma from the kitchen is fantastic. The flavor from fresh ginger, bamboo shoots, peppers, onions and many other spices jump out at you, but still blend easily with chicken, pork, beef and seafood. Traditional dishes like Laap display the contrast of flavors and textures so familiar to lovers of good Thai food. The Laap entree has a choice of chopped beef or pork mixed with chili peppers, mint, cilantro, green onions and lime.
