This state holiday and its accompanying activities commemorate the arrival of Utah's first Mormon Pioneers to the Salt Lake Basin on July 24, 1847. While events are scheduled all over the state throughout the month of July, the biggest celebrations are held in the Salt Lake Area. Pop concerts, family days at local amusement areas, art shows, fireworks and parades combine to spice up the festivities. The most popular events include the All Horse Parade in downtown Salt Lake City, the Days of '47 Rodeo at the Delta Center, and Fireworks display. Check the website for details. Park City is the place to be for summertime music! A long-standing city tradition, the Summer Series brings the Utah Symphony to the amphitheatre. This outdoor venue combines stunning alpine scenery and fantastically hued sunsets with plenty of sloping grass for seats, and gourmet picnic baskets for eats. Selections cater to a variety of musical tastes in a variety of themed concerts. The concerts are held each Saturday in July and August. Ticket prices vary. This annual golf tournament has drawn the best senior players of the PGA. The 54-hole stroke play tournament attracts pros and fans alike to Park Meadows Country Club. Winners share something around a $1.45 million purse, and ESPN provides live coverage of all three rounds. Tickets are for sale from the tournament office or at Smith's Tix outlets.
