Italian fare in hip downtown |
134 West Pierpont Ave Salt Lake City, UT 84101 United States +1 801 328 1500 |
This is a trendy but casual restaurant in the heart of downtown. Part of the "Gastronomy" restaurants, it shares a standard of excellence with the more upscale eateries in the group. But, this restaurant is more relaxed and friendly, featuring fresh pasta dishes (including a very reasonable "early bird special"). Complete dinner entrees include veal and chicken specials. The entire menu is prepared with a Northern Italian flavor. Beer and wine are available with your meals. The more upscale "Club Baci," located just next door, is a private club for members. All of the Italian dishes at this restaurant are simply mouth watering. The chicken dishes, especially the Marsala and the chicken and prosciutto dishes, are particularly recommended. There are nearly a dozen pasta offerings as well, each unusual and delicious. The lasagne is perhaps the most highly recommended. The prices for all the generous dishes on the menu are very reasonable. Alcohol is also available. Wines by the glass are reasonably priced. The cafe often features live jazz performances as well. This popular dinner restaurant is known as one of the best in Park City. Guests enjoy a rustic atmosphere punctuated by heavy drapes, ironwork and artistic ceramic tile. Log tables cluster snugly around a massive fireplace that along with some strategically place lanterns, infuses the room with a romantic glow. Leather-covered menus open to reveal a collection of inventive dishes. Favorites include tortilla soup, goat cheese rellenos and stuffed salmon. Next door to the King's English Bookstore (The), is a fresh dining experience. The menu is somewhat small and specialized, but is always excellent. There are delicious and fresh vegetable and pasta dishes and the veal is a specialty. Similarly, the wine list is truly exceptional. Expect to pay anywhere from $20 to $40 for a bottle of wine. Many are available by the glass for about $5.50, as well. Fresco's has a full liquor license, so beer and mixed drinks are also available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

This is the place to come for authentic Greek flavors. Voted No. 1 by City Weekly, locals know what they are talking about. The gyro is the most popular item on the menu, but feel free to try a shish kebab or salad—nothing here will disappoint you. The price is incredible considering the size of a meal and taste. For just USD5, you can taste what people in Salt Lake are raving about. No liquor is served at this restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Cliff divers and talking birds |
9400 South State Street Salt Lake City, UT 84070 United States +1 801 304 4576 http://www.jordancommons.com/f... |
This theme restaurant seats guests in tree houses and entertains with mechanical birds and stunning cliff divers. The long lines here twist around outside and along a dark cavern-like path, representing the entrance into a Mayan temple. However, the center of the action is a waterfall flowing over a man-made cliff from which divers make their daring leaps. Favorite dishes include fajitas, honey-lime chicken and lime-garlic shrimp skewers. The food, while not exceptional, is still quite good and the ambiance is this restaurant's strong suit. Alcohol is available with meals. Review © 2007, Wcities |
