Market with healthy products |
Papagenoplatz Salzburg 5020 Austria |
Every Friday, a small market is held on the beautiful Papagenoplatz (in the city centre). Organic farmers from the area surrounding Salzburg sell their products and there certainly is a lot on offer. Farmer Samshof from Neumarkt sells a variety of cheeses (the sheep's cheese is delicious), and Farmer Bishof from Büroos sells fresh meat and sausages. If you want to buy Fresh vegetables, then Farmer Klinger is always a good stop-off point. All of the products are organic so this is an ideal place to buy fresh, healthy food. The Birg computer shop is located in the Forum shopping centre which can be found at the Bahnhofsplatz. Unfortunately it is a bit difficult to find the entrance to this shop, you have to go to the left side of the building where there is a cash machine and a pharmacy. You can buy a complete computer system, single components, memory chips, printers and accessories. There is also a very good workshop, albeit a little expensive. Phone calls are hardly ever answered since the shop is always busy. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Markets in Salzburg have a long tradition. The oldest was mentioned before 1500 in the City Chronicle. There existed also a so-called Christmas market selling dolls, sweets, and old and second hand goods. Nowadays this pre-Christmas market is situated on the Cathedral Square. There are wax objects, wooden toys, glassware, pewter dishes, ceramics etc. Don´t forget to put on warm clothes and enjoy tea, punch or mulled wine if you don't want to buy anything. Salzburg's most famous shopping street |
Getreidegasse Salzburg 5020 Austria |
Salzburg´s Getreidegasse is the most famous street of the city, and therefore is the most crowded. If you are really interested in getting a view of the charming old houses it is recommended to visit it quite early, which means before 10a.m. Pretty portals and wonderful courtyards can only be seen and appreciated then. The Getreidegasse is famous for the wrought signs from the 16th to the 19th Centuries. The design of the signs dates back to the Middle Ages. It is worth taking a second look at the houses because they are adorned with dates, symbols or the names of their owners, so they often tell their own history. Review © 2007, Wcities |
