Contemporary Art |
Hellbrunnerstrasse 3 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 842294-27 http://www.salzburger-kunstver... |
Although the Salzburger Kunstverein was one of the first institutions of its kind founded by artists and friends in 1844, it is definitely one of the most interesting places dealing with contemporary international and national art. Beyond the exhibition room the building constructed 1885 houses a small café where visitors can meet artists working in the ateliers situated in the mansion. The annual change of theme means there are a number exciting exhibitions each year and an intensive treatment of topical issues. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Forum and meeting point |
Sigmund-Haffner-Gasse 12/1 Salzburg A-5020 Austria +43 662 848817 http://www.galerie5020.at/ |
The gallery defines itself, beyond its work as an exhibition space, as a forum for Salzburg´s young art scene. As part of this function it offers a service station with a library and an archive of contemporary Austrian artists. Visiting either one of the exhibitions in the gallery, situated in the heart of the city, or one of the lectures, or a film, you will meet Salzburgs small but interesting young artist scene. The most renowned gallery in Salzburg |
Linzer Gasse 25 Salzburg A- 5020 Austria +42 662 879119 http://www.weihergut.at |
The "Gallery Weihergut" is most certainly the most acclaimed gallery Salzburg has to offer. The gallery is a piece of art in itself - a modern gallery-passage, a futuristic pavilion in an old courtyard and a stable that was transformed into an exhibition room with a lot of skill and class. Examining art in an artful surrounding, what more can you ask for? The exhibitions, that change on a monthly basis, mostly show Austrian art from the 20th century, but also everything up to the contemporary Modern period. There's a second gallery in the Biberngasse, a little bit outside of Salzburg, which is also well worth a visit! Review © 2007, Wcities |
