The ultimate conference and seminar hotel |
Ernst Grain Straße 14 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 659010 http://www.virgil.at |
Bildungshaus St. Virgil functions, for the most part, as a business hotel for conferences and seminars, although it does accommodate leisure travellers. The building was the result of extensive planning by a contemporary architect, who expertly combined conference space, a restaurant and comfortable accommodation. There are more rooms in a nearby building, designed in a more rustic style. All rooms have en suite facilities and are decorated in light shades. The building itself is flooded with light thanks to the ample use of glass, which creates a sense of well being once inside. Room prices vary quite greatly from room to room and depend on any conferences taking place at the time. It is wise to phone and enquire; the pleasant staff are well informed and glad to help. Largest campsite on the outskirts of town |
Weberbartlweg 20 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 633089 http://www.campingaigen.com/ |
This is the largest campsite in Salzburg and is located on the outskirts of the town, so is relatively peaceful. If you want to get to the city, you will definitely need a car. You can also get to centre of town by bus but it's a 15-minute walk to the next bus stop. The camping ground is open from May to September and offers all usual features such as electricity, water, showers and washing machines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Formerly a doctor's house |
Glaser Straße 7 & 10 Salzburg A-5026 Austria +43 662 623088-0 http://www.doktorschloessl.com |
The "Doktorschlössl" (Doctor's Palace) is an interesting little hotel in the quiet district of Glas, not too far off from the city centre. The bus services run hear on a regular basis and even a taxi would not cost too much for that short distance. Mobility is not a problem here. The friendly ***-Superior hotel offers every commodity a tourist can wish for. Especially the quiet surroundings persuade guests to come here regularly. Sometimes this district feels like another planet, actually. Furthermore the gardens invite the guests to relax peacefully. Actually one could just stay in the hotel and forget about the city totally. Possible! Review © 2007, Wcities |

The doctor's house |
Glaser Straße 9 Salzburg 5026 Austria +43 662 6229730 http://www.doktorwirt.co.at |
This stylish hotel lies a little out of the city centre in the so-called Friesseneggergut, a 100 year-old building. The name 'Doktorwirt' comes from one of the previous owners, a doctor. Surrounded by a charming garden, this recently renovated hotel offers every luxury fathomable and very comfort-orientated rooms, all set with lightwood and a stylish country-style feel. Very obliging service and a highly lauded restaurant are just some of the accolades placed on this hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A country hotel with a garden |
Ignaz Rieder Kai 25 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 622565 http://www.hotel-gastein.at |
The rather small Hotel Gastein is a country-style hotel, set on the banks of River Salzach. This hotel offers exclusive accommodation far removed from the regular tourist haunts in and around Salzburg, yet is not too far into the centre of town. The building looks like a typical old style Salzburg country house; plants grow all over the facade and the garden making it look even more like home. The rooms are spacious with period furniture, some antique, and are tastefully designed. A few have their own balconies; all have a stunning panorama of the mountains around Salzburg. Cozy hotel with garden |
Dr. Adolf Altmann Straße 2 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 8207600 http://www.hoelle.at |
Ironically, Hotel Hölle, whose name translates into 'Hell' Hotel, is situated dangerously close to Salzburg's central cemetery! This shouldn't deter you though, the recently renovated four-star hotel and the affiliated restaurant are known far and wide for their quality and outstanding service, and are great value for money. The city centre can be reached comfortably by bus or car. A few hundred metres away there's Leopoldskron Lake with the famous Leopoldskron Palace, as seen in the movie The Sound of Music. Definitely worth a visit! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Sleep in a palace |
Morzger Straße 87 Salzburg A - 5020 Austria +43 662 820191 http://www.salzburgschloessl.at |
Hotel Maria Theresien Schlößl is a neighbour to Castle Hellbrunn in one of the most attractive areas in Salzburg. This four-star hotel occupies an art nouveau castle dating from 1901, which was converted into a hotel in 1935. It is relatively far flung from the city centre but enjoys quiet surroundings and escapes the hullabaloo of the centre of town. With an exclusive ambience well suited to a castle and as a perfect base for those wishing to embark on excursions or hikes in and around the city, this is a hotel worth investigating. Herbert invites you to tea! |
Nonntaler Hauptstraße 85 Salzburg A - 5020 Austria +43 662 820308 |
The "Guest House Herbert" is a small privately run organisation. If the owner is really called Herbert has to be verified on location, but that's not really important anyway. Fact is, that this little and fairly inexpensive hotel is situated in one of the nicest areas any tourist could wish for! The Nonntaler Hauptstraße winds itself along, hugging the bottom end of the so called Fortress Mountain. This road is not frequently used by cars and therefore very quiet and peaceful. It's merely a 5 minutes walk to the town centre and the fortress itself can be reached in no time via a much nicer back way as well. The rooms have been beautifully equipped by old Herbert, everything a normal tourist needs has been supplied. Enjoy the flair of Herbert's friendly place in the nicest area of Salzburg! An unusual hotel on Gais Mountain |
Gersberg 37 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 641257 http://www.gersbergalm.at |
The Gersberg Alm (Gersberg alp) has been a popular destination since Mozart's time. The hotel is now housed in a building dating from 1832 and is far removed from the normal tourist haunts. Set on the western side of Gais Mountain, the hotel is right in the middle of the landscape and boasts a stunning view over Salzburg. The rooms are all en suite and some have their own balconies. The hotel also has its own tennis courts. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Luxury hotel on the outskirts of Salzburg |
Gaisberg 11 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 641510 http://www.kobenzl.at/ |
This luxurious hotel sits on the Gaisberg Autostrasse, half way up to the top of the Gaisberg. Situated on the outskirts of the city at a considerable height, it offers an outstanding view over Salzburg. Guests are treated to all sorts of luxuries and the Staff consider personalised service to be of great importance. There's a health area with a swimming pool, a massage service, sauna and a solarium to help you relax. The rooms are lavishly furnished and earn every single one of their allotted five stars. The hotel runs its own restaurant with outstanding food and a very well-stocked wine cellar. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A grand view |
Gaisberg 16 Salzburg 5026 Austria +43 662 641067 http://www.zistelalm.at |
This is one of the hotels that sit on the Gaisberg mount. Not surprisingly this is outside the city centre but here guests can lap up the calm and the fresh mountain air. As far as the rooms and the service are concerned, this hotel scores high points and adheres to all things traditional in Austrian hospitality. The restaurant is well known for good traditional cuisine and does not linger behind the standard of the hotel itself. Walking, cycling and long drives are what this area is known for. The Gaisberg Panorama Walk leaves from just outside the hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |
