Perfect for a short stay |
Dr. M. Laireiter Straße 9 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 850020 http://www.airporthotel.at |
For some obscure reason airport hotels seem to have a rather bad reputation. However I find that most of them actually offer quite exclusive services to the travellers that seek refuge in their midst. One of these is the "Airporthotel Salzburg". It is a first class hotel that has been built into a house that resembles an old fashioned sort of farmhouse. Inside however it reveals itself as a top modern hotel with beautiful rooms, a bar, a restaurant and a few conference rooms. An exquisite service by the staff secures the fact that this hotel is playing in the top league. Be your stay short or long, you're well looked after here! Review © 2007, Wcities |

As central as it gets! |
Kaigasse 33 Salzburg A - 5010 Austria +43 662 8424450 http://www.kasererbraeu.at |
Hotel Kasererbräu is situated in a 650 year-old listed building in the Old Town. Although you'll find it in the middle of the pedestrian zone, access by car is still possible. The convivial hotel is stylish and inviting; the rooms are heavily accented by antique furniture although retain a modern feel. There are some games rooms, rather reminiscent of those of a country house or even a castle. This hotel would be well suited to those interested in history and culture. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Especially for female travellers |
Wolf Dietrich Straße 7 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 871275 http://www.salzburg-hotel.at/ |
This hotel inherited its name from one of Salzburg's best-known archbishops. Lovingly decorated and pleasantly furnished, this is a good, mid-priced choice in the centre of town. The hotel restaurant has received many accolades and serves high-quality Austrian fare. Not only that, but the hotel also won a "Best for Ladies" award in acknowledgement of its services to female travellers. In 2005 a new and modern spa area was opened. A wealth of information about the city is available from the knowledgeable, helpful staff. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Peaceful city hotel |
Blumensteinstraße 8 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 640097 http://www.arenberg-salzburg.at/ |
Tucked away in a side street, the Blumensteinstraße, Hotel Arenberg is an exclusive four-star hotel in an extremely quiet but central location. It offers well-equipped and nicely decorated rooms, most with their own balconies and a grandiose view over the mountain panorama. The hotel is situated at the foot of the Kapuzinerberg and all the major sights and attractions of the Old Town can be reached on foot in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. There is a beautiful garden and a comfortable leisure room; great for settling down with a good book if the weather isn't up to much. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Kaiserschützenstraße 1 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 469700 http://www.bayrischerhof.com/ |
If it comes to finding a high class hotel near the main train station of Salzburg, the "Bayrische Hof" is definitely the one. Just a two minutes walk separates the visitor from the main transport centre of the city from where he can catch almost every train or bus possible. Nevertheless the hotel is not too far away from the city centre itself, which can be reached by walking along the picturesque Salzach for about 15 minutes. The rooms are well equipped and look very friendly and welcoming, which also applies to the building itself, that is painted in a friendly and pleasant yellow. Review © 2007, Wcities |

The first choice for exhibition visitors |
Am Messezentrum 2 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 4355460 http://www.tiscover.at/cd-hotel |
Because of its proximity to Salzburg's Reed Exhibition Centre, this hotel is especially popular with exhibition-goers. The CD Hotel is, first and foremost, a business hotel and maintains modern rooms, all with en suite facilities. It is also a good spot for tourists, as the Old Town is only 20 minutes away by bus. It is worth noting that the room prices here are static the whole year round (even during festival time); in addition one child under the age of 18 is able to sleep in the parents' room free of charge. The restaurant is particularly popular with business travellers. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Stay next to the park |
Alpenstraße 6 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 20600 http://www.castellani-parkhote... |
This hotel is actually an old manor house, arguably a palace. Over a hundred exclusive, tastefully designed rooms provide guests with the most modern of comforts. Furthermore the rooms have been refurbished lately. The hotel owns its own famous, very well reputed restaurant and although it lies right next to a park, this hotel is only ten minutes away from the city-centre. There's also another unusual touch: this hotel has its own baroque chapel, which can be booked for weddings and christenings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Schallmoser Hauptstraße 13 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 881681 http://www.cordial.at |
Something in the region of 3,500 cultural events take place in Salzburg every year. The idea of opening a hotel to cater to those tourists who visit Salzburg for cultural events seemed a logical one. The owners of the Cordial Theatre Hotel were the first to dream up and execute this idea. The hotel is not too far from the city centre and the staple venues for cultural events. The friendly staff provide a wealth of information on what is on. All rooms are arranged as suites, with en suite facilities and a kitchenette. Unfortunately, the prices rise by about half during the festival period. There are conference facilities for business meetings. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Glaser Straße 9 Salzburg 5026 Austria +43 662 6229730 http://www.doktorwirt.co.at |
This stylish hotel lies a little out of the city centre in the so-called Friesseneggergut, a 100 year-old building. The name 'Doktorwirt' comes from one of the previous owners, a doctor. Surrounded by a charming garden, this recently renovated hotel offers every luxury fathomable and very comfort-orientated rooms, all set with lightwood and a stylish country-style feel. Very obliging service and a highly lauded restaurant are just some of the accolades placed on this hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Ignaz Rieder Kai 25 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 622565 http://www.hotel-gastein.at |
The rather small Hotel Gastein is a country-style hotel, set on the banks of River Salzach. This hotel offers exclusive accommodation far removed from the regular tourist haunts in and around Salzburg, yet is not too far into the centre of town. The building looks like a typical old style Salzburg country house; plants grow all over the facade and the garden making it look even more like home. The rooms are spacious with period furniture, some antique, and are tastefully designed. A few have their own balconies; all have a stunning panorama of the mountains around Salzburg. Hotel Auersperg, in Auerspergstraße, is merely a few hundred metres away from the Mirabellplatz, and therefore the city centre. 19 of its 50 rooms in the neighbouring building have been completely redesigned, yet the whole establishment possesses a flair only found in old family-run hotels. The service and facilities are extremely modern and the décor is elegant, with marble floors, Persian carpets and stylish furniture. A restaurant, a bar and a romantic garden await the guests, all set around a charming city villa from the turn of the 20th century. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hotel Brandstätter is particularly suited to those arriving by car, or people visiting Salzburg's exhibition centre, as it lies right next to the motorway stop Salzburg-Mitte. That said, it is in quite a calm spot and the rooms are decorated in a country house style; some have their own balconies. The service is particularly friendly and competent by all accounts. The very well-reputed restaurant in an inviting 'Stube' will satisfy the most fussy of gourmet wannabes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A historic vaulted cellar contains the hotel restaurant, Der Ratsherrenkeller, which serves good, hearty meals. Art Nouveau architecture in Salzburg |
Lasserstraße 47 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 873388 http://www.lasserhof.com |
From an architectural viewpoint Hotel Lasserhof is certainly one of the most interesting hotels Salzburg has to offer. The building dates from the era of Art Nouveau and was restored bit by bit over the last few years. Now it once again stands proud in all its beauty. The impression created by the exterior is also mirrored inside - a hotel with exquisite rooms and service! It is close to the city centre, yet not too noisy, tucked away in a fairly quiet side street. The Lasserhof combines the past with modern commodities. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hotel Maria Theresien Schlößl is a neighbour to Castle Hellbrunn in one of the most attractive areas in Salzburg. This four-star hotel occupies an art nouveau castle dating from 1901, which was converted into a hotel in 1935.
