Haus Wartenberg

Peaceful but central area
Riedenburger Straße 2
Salzburg 5020
Austria
+43 662 848400
http://www.hauswartenberg.com/
Haus Wartenberg is in an enviable position. It is able to offer inexpensive rooms close to the city centre, which guarantees it a constant stream of guests. In rather a quiet and well-to-do neighbourhood, this unpretentious, friendly establishment offers its guests a few welcome extras, such as on-site conferencing facilities. Some rooms only have use of the bathroom facilities in the corridors, but these options are considerably better value than the en suite rooms. Its garden is a welcome place to relax in the hustle and bustle of city life, and has plenty of space to accommodate children playing and there's an in-house restaurant.

Hotel Gasthof Hölle

Cozy hotel with garden
Dr. Adolf Altmann Straße 2
Salzburg 5020
Austria

http://www.hoelle.at
Ironically, Hotel Hölle, whose name translates into 'Hell' Hotel, is situated dangerously close to Salzburg's central cemetery! This shouldn't deter you though, the recently renovated four-star hotel and the affiliated restaurant are known far and wide for their quality and outstanding service, and are great value for money. The city centre can be reached comfortably by bus or car. A few hundred metres away there's Leopoldskron Lake with the famous Leopoldskron Palace, as seen in the movie The Sound of Music. Definitely worth a visit!

Hotel Stadler

Four-star hotel outside the Old Town
Ganshofstraße 5
Salzburg 5020
Austria
+43 662 434105
http://www.hotelstadler.at/
The small, four-star Stadler Hotel is somewhat removed from the usual tourist circuit and situated in a quiet area. You can still get to the Old Town in about 15 minutes by bus. The rooms are modern and comfortable and the family-run business takes good care of its guests; half and full-day sightseeing tours or theatre tickets will be booked for you upon request. Ganshof Tavern is about a 200m stumble down the road and it serves simple and traditional Austrian meals.

This recently renovated, modern hotel is situated about a mile to the west of the Old Town with efficient bus connections into town. The inviting lobby leads into airy, modern rooms while further rooms are located in a neighbouring building, including a range of larger rooms with more than two beds for families. A garden area offers children the possiblity of playing outside. Guests can rent bikes in-house and may make use of the garage for a small fee. Recently a nice spa area was opened which offers recreation after exhausting days in town.

Junior Hotel

A small, relaxing hotel near the airport
Innsbrucker Bundesstraße 49
Salzburg 5020
Austria

http://www.hoteljunior.at
This hotel is suitable for those flying into Salzburg, set very close to the airport. Its spacious rooms all have en suite facilities; some have their own balconies. You'll find this area quite green and the view of the mountains is lovely and hardly ever obscured by cloud. Don't miss out on sampling the delights of the hotel restaurant, which serves typical Salzburg specialities. The beer garden is a great place to while away the afternoon on sunny days.

Pension Herbert

Herbert invites you to tea!
Nonntaler Hauptstraße 85
Salzburg A - 5020
Austria
+43 662 820308
The "Guest House Herbert" is a small privately run organisation. If the owner is really called Herbert has to be verified on location, but that's not really important anyway. Fact is, that this little and fairly inexpensive hotel is situated in one of the nicest areas any tourist could wish for! The Nonntaler Hauptstraße winds itself along, hugging the bottom end of the so called Fortress Mountain. This road is not frequently used by cars and therefore very quiet and peaceful. It's merely a 5 minutes walk to the town centre and the fortress itself can be reached in no time via a much nicer back way as well. The rooms have been beautifully equipped by old Herbert, everything a normal tourist needs has been supplied. Enjoy the flair of Herbert's friendly place in the nicest area of Salzburg!

Pension Josefa

A home away from home
Nussdorfer Straße 5
Salzburg A-5020
Austria
+43 662 825586
http://www.hotel-josefa.at/
Hotel Josefa is located in a charming little house from the turn of the century, renovated relatively recently. The theme of the interior design reflects that of the façade; the rooms feature the highest standard three star décor; all the furniture is made out of cherry wood, whilst the rooms are set in light and warm colours. One particular highlight is the organic breakfast buffet. This hotel lies very close the famous Stiegl Brewery and the centre of town is not far away—it is about a ten-minute walk to the Old Town.

Pension Wallner

Family-run, situated away from the town-centre
Aiglhofstraße 15
Salzburg 5020
Austria
+43 662 845023
http://www.pensionwallner.at/
This family-run guesthouse is located in the Maxglan district, which is slightly west of the city centre. You can reach the Old Town by bus in about 10 minutes. The rooms are spread out between two buildings and most rooms have their own shower/toilet, but some low priced rooms share these facilities with the rest of the floor. Rooms in the back building are a little more spacious and are furnished in lightwood. This guesthouse is a good option near the Old Town and it is worth noting that prices here do not fluctuate to much during the year, even when the festival is on.

Schwärzler Hotel Neutor

Near the Neutor Tunnel
Neutorstraße 8
Salzburg 5020
Austria
+43 662 844154
http://neutor.s-hotels.com/
This hotel is named after the Neutor Tunnel which runs under the Mönchsberg. This ancient tunnel, the so-called Sigmundstor (Neutor), connects the two parts of the city. The city centre is less than 5 minutes away on foot and guests can leave their car in the huge garage and then set out on walking expeditions. The service and rooms are excellent, as one might expect from a hotel of this category. The hotel restaurant is only for the use of groups, but the café is open to all. A hotel in a great location with plenty of style!

Wastlwirt

Great little place
Rochusgasse 15
Salzburg A - 5020
Austria
+43 662 820100
http://www.wastlwirt.com
Wastlwirt is just as charming as the name sounds. This small but well-equipped establishment is situated very near Stiegl brewery, although its fabulous restaurant and inexpensive rooms make it popular with a more varied clientele. Known for its friendly, family-like atmosphere and attentive service, Wastlwirt is a good, relatively undiscovered little place and only a 20-minute walk from the city centre. A tip for insiders!
