The ultimate conference and seminar hotel |
Ernst Grain Straße 14 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 659010 http://www.virgil.at |
Bildungshaus St. Virgil functions, for the most part, as a business hotel for conferences and seminars, although it does accommodate leisure travellers. The building was the result of extensive planning by a contemporary architect, who expertly combined conference space, a restaurant and comfortable accommodation. There are more rooms in a nearby building, designed in a more rustic style. All rooms have en suite facilities and are decorated in light shades. The building itself is flooded with light thanks to the ample use of glass, which creates a sense of well being once inside. Room prices vary quite greatly from room to room and depend on any conferences taking place at the time. It is wise to phone and enquire; the pleasant staff are well informed and glad to help. Staying centrally |
Elisabethstraße 45a Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 454265-0 http://www.brunauerzentrum.at |
Hotel Brunauer Zentrum is situated in Elisabethstraße, a small road that runs parallel to Salzburg's main train station, where most public transport lines meet. Although the building might not be very appealing, the hotel has a lovely garden; the management are well informed about the city and its tourism and the rooms are often booked for meetings and seminars. This doesn't mean it isn't suitable for leisure guests though; the rooms are light and spacious and practically arranged, dominated by light colours and elements of warm red. This hotel has a special Health Corner with a sauna, solarium and fitness room. Furthermore guests can try their hand at the typical Austrian Kegeln, a sport similar to bowling. Formerly a doctor's house |
Glaser Straße 7 & 10 Salzburg A-5026 Austria +43 662 623088-0 http://www.doktorschloessl.com |
The "Doktorschlössl" (Doctor's Palace) is an interesting little hotel in the quiet district of Glas, not too far off from the city centre. The bus services run hear on a regular basis and even a taxi would not cost too much for that short distance. Mobility is not a problem here. The friendly ***-Superior hotel offers every commodity a tourist can wish for. Especially the quiet surroundings persuade guests to come here regularly. Sometimes this district feels like another planet, actually. Furthermore the gardens invite the guests to relax peacefully. Actually one could just stay in the hotel and forget about the city totally. Possible! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Very convenient if you travel by car |
Vogelweiderstraße 6 Salzburg A - 5020 Austria +43 662 87 3853 http://www.hotel-ganslhof.at |
If you arrive in Salzburg by car from the north you can't really miss the Ganslhof. It is situated in the Vogelweiderstraße, which runs along behind the main train station of Salzburg, great for those travelling by car and train. This street, being one of Salzburg's main outlet roads, can be rather noisy at times. At night the traffic eases considerably, so guests can sleep in peace. The city centre can be reached comfortably on foot in about 20 minutes and a public bus will scoot you off to town in about half the time. The value for money is good and dedicated staff make sure that your stay is a pleasant one. All in all, a nice, comfy hotel in a good, semi-central position! Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great view of the countryside |
Eichstraße 70 Salzburg A - 5020 Austria +43 662 6406460 http://www.hotel-kendl.at |
Restaurant Kendl is well known in Salzburg thanks to its exquisite Austrian cuisine. That said, the hotel in the same building is certainly not in the shadow because of it. All rooms are tastefully decorated and well equipped to three star standards. The service is professional and friendly with the staff always willing to lend a hand. The 500 years old building is located on the outskirts of Salzburg. This provides a great view of the countryside. Coach groups seem to be particularly fond of this place. Probably because buses into the city are regular and what this place lacks in convenience it makes up for in calm and beauty. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Hotel Goldene Krone is situated centrally in Linzergasse, the second most important of Salzburg's shopping streets. The hotel is fitted with all mod cons, enjoys an enviable reputation and is great value for money. Some of the rooms are a shade on the small side and not all have en suite facilities, but there is a lovely sun terrace guests may use to while away the hours on sunny afternoons. Salzburg's leafy island |
Rennbahnstraße 11 Salzburg A-5020 Austria +43 662 623268-0 http://www.hotel-scheck.com/ |
Guesthouse Scheck lies close to River Salzach, on the outskirts of the rather elegant district of Aigen. The nice thing about this area is that there are still quite a few green spaces left. Volksgarten Park, for instance, is only a few hundred metres away. Apart from a little lake and a rather nice fountain this park also offers a number of tennis courts and other sports facilities. If you stroll along the banks of River Salzach you can reach the town centre in about 10 to 15 minutes. This guesthouse is located very centrally and still lies in a peaceful area. Lieferinger Hauptstraße 120 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 431646 http://www.hartlwirt.at/ |
Hotel Hartlwirt consists of a small three-star hotel and a highly acclaimed restaurant. The location on the Lieferinger Hauptstraße is ideal for anyone visiting the Exhibition centre (about 700m away) and those travelling by car. All of the rooms in this family-run hotel come with a fitted bathroom with shower and toilet, and the décor is rustic and cosy. Although this is in the centre of town, there is a real village-like feeling in the hotel and the district of Liefering. You'll find great Austrian fare served in the adjoining restaurant. Peaceful but central area |
Riedenburger Straße 2 Salzburg 5020 Austria +43 662 848400 http://www.hauswartenberg.com/ |
Haus Wartenberg is in an enviable position. It is able to offer inexpensive rooms close to the city centre, which guarantees it a constant stream of guests. In rather a quiet and well-to-do neighbourhood, this unpretentious, friendly establishment offers its guests a few welcome extras, such as on-site conferencing facilities. Some rooms only have use of the bathroom facilities in the corridors, but these options are considerably better value than the en suite rooms. Its garden is a welcome place to relax in the hustle and bustle of city life, and has plenty of space to accommodate children playing and there's an in-house restaurant. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Restaurant/Hotel Hinterbrühl, in the Old Town, has a total of twelve rooms for guests, which are often full due to the incredibly low prices. There are some simple single rooms as well as showers and toilets in the corridor. Guests should book early, as it is a popular place to stay. The restaurant serves good traditional Austrian food. Hotel Amadeus is situated in Linzergasse, right in the city centre. The hotel occupies a 500 year-old building, which has been fully renovated and modernised. The rooms are stylish and have all mod cons; some rooms are furnished with antique pieces. As far as the rooms and the service are concerned, this hotel scores high points and adheres to all things traditional in Austrian hospitality. The restaurant is well known for good traditional cuisine and does not linger behind the standard of the hotel itself. Walking, cycling and long drives are what this area is known for. The Gaisberg Panorama Walk leaves from just outside the hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Plenty of history and superb food |
Goldgasse 10 Salzburg A - 5020 Austria +43 662 845622 http://www.ente.at |
Hotel zur goldenen Ente (literally, Hotel of the Golden Duck) is certainly a bit of an insider's tip among the hotels in Salzburg. Even Goldgasse, the road in which the hotel lies, is worth a visit and it is fascinating to stay in a 500 year-old building. For a hotel of its class, it is well furnished and maintained as it has been refurbished recently. The rooms all have en suite facilities and the hotel has its own restaurant, Gasthaus zur goldenen Ente, which comes highly recommended. Review © 2007, Wcities |
