Market with healthy products
Papagenoplatz

Farmer Samshof from Neumarkt sells a variety of cheeses (the sheep's cheese is delicious), and Farmer Bishof from Büroos sells fresh meat and sausages. If you want to buy Fresh vegetables, then Farmer Klinger is always a good stop-off point. All of the products are organic so this is an ideal place to buy fresh, healthy food.

You can also find cheaper modern pieces such as rings, bracelets, necklaces or ear-rings or more dear ons such as intriately decorated chokers.

This butcher is situated in the Linzer Gasse and it offers a great selection of meat and sausages. All meat is butchered on the premises. This is also a good place to get a snack when going for a stroll along the Linzergasse. You could try a roll with a slice of meat loaf called called Leberkas-Semmel. A few hot dishes are served at lunctime but it's a case of standing room only. As there is only space for few people it's not really a good place for groups.

Getreidegasse

Salzburg's most famous shopping street
Getreidegasse
Salzburg 5020
Austria
Salzburg´s Getreidegasse is the most famous street of the city, and therefore is the most crowded. If you are really interested in getting a view of the charming old houses it is recommended to visit it quite early, which means before 10a.m. Pretty portals and wonderful courtyards can only be seen and appreciated then. The Getreidegasse is famous for the wrought signs from the 16th to the 19th Centuries. The design of the signs dates back to the Middle Ages. It is worth taking a second look at the houses because they are adorned with dates, symbols or the names of their owners, so they often tell their own history.

Over the past decade Austria has emerged as an up-and-coming producer of dry white and dessert wines. Even its red wines are starting to make a name for themselves. A visit to the wine market, which is held in Salzburg every April and May, is therefore highly recommended for anybody remotely interested in wine. Dozens of wine-growers from Austria's different wine-growing regions have stalls at the market, making the choice and value-for-money quite exceptional. Many regional names are unfamiliar outside Austria but are still well worth trying. Drivers should not despair: they can fill up the car and enjoy the wine at home.
