Durty Nelly's, located on the River Walk on the river level of the Hilton hotel, is a rollicking good time. Pull up a chair, order a beer (or two, or ten) and sing along with the pianist. A versatile guy, the pianist takes requests and can play just about anything. Probably the most fun thing to do is munch on the peanuts and toss the shells on the floor. Yes, it is allowed! Unfortunately stuck in a strip mall, the Fox and Hound offers a casual but upscale English pub atmosphere, with a few minor adjustments. Watch a sporting event while enjoying tasty food and choosing from a wide selection of beers and ales from around the world. Hunting scenes (foxes and hounds, not guns and deer, thank you) decorate the richly colored walls, while 33 large-screen TV's broadcast sporting events and music videos. Game rooms flank the main room and bar and feature "civilized" entertainment such as billiards, darts and shuffleboard. The kitchen is open all day and serves up generous portions of (non-English) food such as Grand Champion Wings, Philadelphia Chicken Sandwich and Hawaiian Pizza. The huge plasma screens draw in a large clientele, especially during matches. Look for the statue of the Scotsman in full regalia to locate this fun bar with a British/Scottish theme on the River Walk. Enjoy a wide selection of both imported and local beers on tap while watching the crowds pass by from your patio table. The menu is definitely pub-oriented, but its offerings are rather tasty. Expect the usual steaks, fish and chips and sandwiches. While the food is good, the fun atmosphere, billiard tables, dart board, video games and large beer selection are the main attractions.
