Bonham Exchange

Dance (most of) the night away in downtown
411 Bonham St
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States
+1 210 271 3811
http://www.bonhamexchange.net/
The Bonham Exchange, simply known as "The Bonham," is a large and popular nightclub a couple of blocks away from Rivercenter Mall. Although the Bonham still primarily sees itself as a lesbian/gay club, times have changed, and the club now boasts a more diverse clientele. Dance on one of the club's three dance floors and when you are hot and tired, enjoy a drink on the patio. If you are hungry, you can usually find someone selling tacos or hamburgers. There is a small room between the first and second floors of the main dance floor with newspapers, flyers and other information about the lesbian/gay community.

Dick's Last Resort

A Raucous Time on the River Walk
406 Navarro
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States
+1 210 224 0026
http://www.dickslastresort.com
This is by far one of the rowdiest restaurants on the River Walk, so diners can expect loud music, great food, cold beer and steely attitudes from the waitstaff. Do not take your in-laws or your children; unless, of course, they can swig a longneck and crack crab legs with the best of 'em. The food here is good and has a definite Cajun flavor. All entrees either arrive in a bucket (crawfish and crab legs) or on top of butcher paper (hamburgers, ribs, chicken). It's messy, but fun. The crowd tends to get a little crazier the later it gets, as the restaurant gradually morphs into a full-fledged bar with live music every night.

Fat Tuesday

Every night is Mardi Gras
111 W Crockett St
(South Bank)
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States
+1 210 212 7886
Fat Tuesday can best be described as a mini-Mardi Gras every night of the year. Featuring "the world's largest selection of frozen drinks," this is an exotic- drink lover's paradise. On Friday and Saturday nights, the bar is packed to the gills, and a good time is had by all. For those who want to listen to the music and enjoy the atmosphere without being indoors, there is also a patio with tables overlooking the River. Fat Tuesday is not only a daiquiri bar, but also a restaurant. The menu is limited, but what it does offer is palatable and reasonably priced. Live entertainment is provided from Thursday through Saturday nights, and on these evenings there is a small cover charge depending on the featured performer.

Howl at the Moon

Sing-along piano bar
111 Crockett St W
Ste 201
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States

Combine two full-service bars with two talented dueling pianists and you have a recipe for wild, raucous fun. Howl at the Moon is a high-energy sing-along bar that gets louder and more fun as the night wears on. There is definitely a proportional relationship between alcohol and singing: the more alcohol you consume, the more you sing, and usually louder and further off-key, too. Oddly, that is what makes this place a great choice when you are out with a crowd.

Mad Dogs

Large, fun bar with several pool tables
123 Losoya St
Riverwalk
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States
+1 210 222 0220
http://www.maddogspubs.com/MDS...
Look for the statue of the Scotsman in full regalia to locate this fun bar with a British/Scottish theme on the River Walk. Enjoy a wide selection of both imported and local beers on tap while watching the crowds pass by from your patio table. The menu is definitely pub-oriented, but its offerings are rather tasty. Expect the usual steaks, fish and chips and sandwiches. While the food is good, the fun atmosphere, billiard tables, dart board, video games and large beer selection are the main attractions. Mad Dogs is open late, and thus is a good place to end your evening.

Totally retro, totally kitsch and totally fun. This dance club occupies three floors of a former office building overlooking the River Walk. The first floor features '90s and current music and is decked up with plenty of mirrors, silver tones and neon colors. Polly Esther's Disco holds court on the second floor and features music from the disco era. The '70s experience is complete with a "Saturday Night Fever"-style lighted disco floor, a Partridge Family bar and a Lava Lamp Lounge. Topping it all off is Polly Esther's Culture Club on the third floor. Take a nostalgia trip back into the '80s, complete with black light bars and a laser-lit "Purple Rain" dance floor. Drink specials, contests and cover charges vary.

Zinc Champagne & Wine Bar

Beautiful bar with an emphasis on the bubbly
207 N Presa St
(between Commerce & Market Sts)
San Antonio, TX 78205
United States
+1 210 224 2900 / +1 210 224 1313
http://www.zincwine.com
This bar pours more than 40 varieties of wine available by the glass, including more than five varieties of champagne. If none of those suit you, partake of any one of the numerous brandies or liqueurs, or enjoy a premium mixed drink from the fully stocked bar. Beautiful but small, Zinc has almost an elitist, yet friendly, feel; it is as if you have discovered the clique and have been welcomed. The crowds is small, even though it is just one block off the beaten path from River Walk.
