What it lacks in friendly service, Calcutta makes up for in atmosphere. Hidden behind the Grill on the Hill restaurant in the Medical Center, this unassuming house-turned-coffeehouse welcomes everyone from poets and artists to students and business executives. If this place were any more laid back, it would fall over. Surreal paintings with a religious motif clutter the walls inside, and a couple of fat cats claim squatter's rights on the quaintly mismatched chairs and tables.
