Dine while eating in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The Alsatian offers an excellent earth-and-sea platter consisting of filet mignon, fried catfish and breaded shrimp. Not in the mood for steak? Try the Popeye The Sailor's Plate, a platter of fried catfish, fried shrimp and fries. If you are looking for something from the grill, then you may want to try the Texas-size T-Bone or the Tex-Mex combo, a rib eye served with two enchiladas. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Some like it hot |
255 E Basse Rd Ste 600 San Antonio, TX 78209 United States +1 210 821 3738 http://www.canyoncafe.com |
The dramatic flaming torches positioned under an open-beam canopy outside the restaurant promises something different...and the food delivers on that promise.A Southwestern theme is emphasized with pine timbers, pleasing shades of turquoise and terracotta, and lots of Native American accessories. The restaurant is always busy during lunch and dinner, so be prepared to wait. Everything that comes out of the kitchen is garnished with spicy goodness. Try the sublime Tudie's Chicken-Fried Tuna ($12.95), the tender Tahoe Tenderloin ($18.95) or the provocative Desert Fire Pasta ($10.95). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Crumpets' casual elegance is rivaled only by its contemporary cuisine. Daily specials and beautiful surroundings make this little restaurant and bakery popular among ladies who lunch, couples who kiss and friends who fraternize. Dining al fresco is simply a treat. Let the shade of the live oak trees ease the burden of the sun as you listen to the soft rush of small waterfalls in the background, or sit by one of the huge picture windows and enjoy the scenery from the inside. The varied menu includes a delightful selection of soups, salads, seafood, pasta, beef and chicken. Choose a traditional entrée such as the rosemary chicken, or try something not as traditional, like the ostrich filet. The five-course Sunday brunch is a must-do. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant Restaurant with a View of the Hill Country |
16641 La Cantera Parkway Westin La Cantera Resort San Antonio, TX 78250 United States +1 210 558 6500 |
A resort as elegant as the Westin La Cantera would be expected to offer a restaurant as lovely. Mark Miller, Santa Fe's chef extraordinaire, designed the menu, which has received continual raves since the restaurant's opening. Try the Shrimp Corncakes or the Gazpacho before diving into to perfectly prepared steak and seafood entrees. The wine list is as impressive as the service. The only thing better is the panoramic view of the Hill Country, a true crowning touch. Francesca's is popular with locals as well as resort guests, so reservations are highly recommended. Known for great food and an odd building |
328 E Josephine St San Antonio, TX 78215 United States +1 210 227 1187 |
Liberty Bar's old, deceptively restored home seems to lean so precariously, one wonders how it still stands. Wrongfully playing second fiddle to the building, the menu and the wine list boast some unique and tasty selections. Do not pass up any of the chicken dishes, the chilled green bean salad, or the homemade breads and desserts. The bar portion of the restaurant draws an eclectic and lively crowd in the evenings. Be sure to pop in for brunch on Sundays. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Top-choice steakhouse on the River Walk |
231 South Alamo St San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 225 2111 http://www.littlerheinsteakhou... |
Dining just does not get more Texan than a cold beer and a good steak, and that is what you get at the Little Rhein. This famous River Walk restaurant is housed in the oldest two-story structure in San Antonio, which was built in 1847. Antique memorabilia decorates the walls and takes you back to an age when Texans sat down to dinner with their six guns. The menu contains a variety of steaks, ranging from filet mignons to T-bones to rib eyes. All steaks are served with salad, baked potato and "Texas Caviar" (deliciously seasoned, baked black-eyed peas). Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Superb Dining Experience |
10223 Sahara San Antonio, TX 78216 United States +1 210 342 2321 |
For over 30 years, the Old San Francisco Steak House has been a San Antonio tradition, serving some of the finest steak dinners in town. Although the restaurant is well known for its steaks, it has enhanced its menu to include fresh seafood and chicken dishes. One of the unique features of this restaurant is the girl in the red velvet swing. She entertains guests as she swings above them as they enjoy their meals. The peppered steak and 12-ounce rib eye are two of the favorites of local patrons, or try the spicy Jamaican chicken. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An exceptional hotel restaurant |
111 East Pecan St Crowne Plaza Hotel San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 354 2800 |
Most hotel restaurants leave a lot to be desired. This is an exception. Chefs are known for combining unusual flavors and innovative approaches to seemingly ordinary dishes and pack the locals in on a regular basis. A plus when dining downtown, the hotel offers complimentary valet parking for patrons of the restaurant. The decor is tastefully elegant, without the stuffiness some hotel restaurants can't seem to shake off. This is a great choice for hosting clients or guests when you don't feel like battling the crowds on the busier side of River Walk. The well-thought-out menu boasts eclectic entrees, delicious pasta and even gourmet pizza. Eclectic New American restaurant on the River Walk |
245 E Commerce San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 210 223 9141 http://www.presidioplaza.com/ |
This is one of the more elegant places to eat on the River Walk. As you walk by this restaurant, you cannot help but notice the mission-like colonnade entrance that beckons you to enter. The outdoor patio seating surrounds a beautiful, large wrap-around bar, which anchors this restaurant. The food here is described as eclectic New American and compliments the surroundings nicely. The menu is rounded out with unique selections of pasta, poultry, pork, and top-grade beef. Although most of the entrees are excellent, waiters tend to push the ever-popular pecan-crusted chicken in an apple/brandy/butter sauce. Review © 2007, Wcities |
