A touch of Italy "at the vineyard." |
1203 N Loop 1604 West, #101 (Vinyard Center) San Antonio, TX 78201-4002 United States +1 210 340 0000 http://www.aldinos.com/ |
Affiliated with Aldo's Ristorante Italiano, Aldino has a warm and elegant setting recalling ancient Rome. The Roman architecture, with its columns and murals creates an old world atmosphere, the better to enjoy the fine Italian cuisine. Depending on the weather, you will likely want to dine on the outdoor patio. There's even a complete party room for receptions and other group activities. The full bar and fine wine selection makes for a well-rounded meal, for lunch or dinner. Try the Ravioli de Vitello, which consists of ravioli stuffed with ground veal, spinach and ricotta cheese and then topped with a pesto cream sauce; or the Chicken Gorgonzola, a sautéed chicken breast topped with mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and a tarragon cream sauce. Italian Cuisine, Belly Dancers and Jazz on the River |
106 Riverwalk (next to Sze-Schuen Chinese Restaurant) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 222 9998 |
A small awning above a rosemary-green door gives the only indication that this little Italian restaurant has carved out some space on the River Walk. If you're having trouble finding it, just follow the smell of garlic or look for the crowd of people waiting to get in. Warm candlelight casts lazy shadows on the white rock walls, and low ceilings settle over intimately fixed tables. Add in some live jazz music and belly dancing and you've got one of the most quirkily romantic, one-of-a-kind restaurants in the city. Almost anything you order is guaranteed to be delicious. Try Linguini with Asparagus, Mostacolli with Meatballs or Stefania's Gorgonzola Pasta at this truly unique eatery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Dine in or take out |
824 Afterglow St San Antonio, TX 78216 United States +1 210 349 2060 |
Established in 1983, this Northside favorite has three possibilities depending on your dining mood. One side of the restaurant is cozy and comfortable— just right for an intimate repast. On the other side is a wonderful take-out deli, filled with meats and cheeses, as well as the restaurant's bar. If you're in the mood for a large gathering, you can book the Big Apple room. No matter where you sit (or stand), you will be able to order from a wide selection of real Italian meals. Every meal comes with a slice of pizza and a side dish of spaghetti. Try the linguini with white clam sauce, followed by one of the restaurant's homemade desserts. If a taste of vino is to your liking, Little Italy's wine cellar is among the best in the city. Wonderful Italian restaurant still somewhat undiscovered |
6825 San Pedro San Antonio, TX 78216 United States +1 210 349 5251 |
This great find hides behind an unassuming facade in a less-than-glitzy neighborhood. Once inside the door, you'll discover a menu ripe with delicious and authentic Italian dishes, an impressive wine list, beautiful decor and thoughtful service. Luigi's puts its own delicious mark on standard fare such as Fettuccine Alfredo, lasagna and manicotti. For an unusual side dish, try the steamed spinach with lemon and butter. The soft lighting and the pianist help create an intimate atmosphere for lovers or friends; you should opt to leave the kids at home. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Quaint Italian eatery on the River Walk |
521 River Walk St San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 223 2939 |
One of the prettier restaurants on the River Walk, Michelino's has an excellent seating area that seems to compliment the surroundings. The food here is solidly Italian, with a North Italian country appeal. The pastas come accompanied with fresh poultry, veal, beef and seafood with flavorful sauces. If they all look good and you can't decide, then try the Angel Hair Di Mare with a roasted garlic cream sauce. The restaurant has an excellent wine list, as well, which does include some affordable selections. This place is an excellent choice for business dinners or just a lovely evening out. Elegant Italian dining |
555 E Basse Rd Ste 100 San Antonio, TX 78209 United States +1 210 828 5191 http://www.paesanos.com |
One of the most acclaimed Italian restaurants in San Antonio, Paesano's has been a local favorite for decades. Tourists are most familiar with its location on the River Walk, but the one just north of downtown in Lincoln Heights, near the Quarry Marketplace, offers the same great menu in a different atmosphere. Paesano's in Lincoln Heights is relaxed yet sophisticated, a place to see and be seen. Be sure to visit on a nice day during sunset. The west room has a spectacular sunset view overlooking the Quarry Golf Course; it's a view that you would not want to miss, especially with that special someone. You can choose from a variety of dinners including red snapper sautéed with artichokes, mushrooms and white wine; orange roughly with lemon butter and garlic; and shrimp with fra diavolo sauce. Of course, the restaurant would not be the same without its namesake, Gamberi Paesano (Shrimp Paesano), which is served as either an appetizer or a dinner. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Italian at its finest |
111 W Crocket St (Suite 101) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 227 2782 http://www.paesanosriverwalk.com |
If you are planning a trip to the Alamo city, there are two things you must eat: any type of authentic Mexican food and Paesano's "Shrimp Paesano." This incredible appetizer/entree is so rich and tasty that you won't know when to stop. Paesano's on the River Walk has a relaxed yet upscale atmosphere; you can sit inside or by the river and browse through an extensive wine list. Don't stop with the Shrimp Paesano, though, because everything on the menu is fresh and scrumptious. The pasta dishes are huge, the pizza is made with fresh, innovative ingredients, and the meats are varied and delicious. If you're dining away from downtown, but still in the mood for Italian food, visit Paesano's at its Quarry location. Review © 2007, Wcities |

An Italian haven in Texas |
202 Recoleta Rd San Antonio, TX 78216 United States +1 210 828 0678 |
A venerable Italian fixture in San Antonio, Paletta's offers an extensive line of imported delicacies, casual lunches and food to go. Although Paletta's is technically a food store, its lunches are legendary and draw quite a crowd. Huge sandwiches, homemade Italian specialties such as lasagna and sausage with peppers, and rich desserts top the menu. After your lunch, be sure to allow time to browse the food section and marvel at the variety. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Great Italian food in Converse |
8607 Farm Rd 1976 PO Box 669 San Antonio, TX 78109 United States +1 210 658 5261 |
Located at the corner of Toepperwein Road and FM 1976 in Converse, this local favorite is worth the drive required to reach it. For more than 20 years, it has been serving flavorful and inexpensive food in pleasantly large portions. Pizzas, hot and cold submarine sandwiches, salads, soups and appetizers are available, as is a hearty selection of pasta dishes such as spaghetti, lasagna and mostaccioli. All entrees are available with extra Italian sausage or meatballs if you're extra hungry. Top it off with a cappuccino or some of Papa Dante's hot apple skillet a la mode and you won't regret the trip. Review © 2007, Wcities |
