Soups, salads and sandwiches |
8637 Fredericksburg Road 145 San Antonio, TX 78240 United States +1 210 691 698 http://www.annemaries.com/ |
Anne Marie's a simple place with humble beginnings and a healthy menu. The restaurant might not be a wow place for a brunch or lunch, but it certainly has your nutritional requirements in mind. Daily specials are hot, literally, and the price is cool. The place is more popular for its banquet rooms at Devonshire, and Anne Marie's catering capabilities are renowned anyway. In the meanwhile, for those interested in a light lunch, which is lighter on your pocket, step into Anne Marie's. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Juicy, tended barbecue |
5145 Fredericksburg Rd. San Antonio, TX 78229 United States +1 210 344 8401 |
For that uniquely Texan barbecue flavor, Bob's Smokehouse is the place to go. Whether you choose the juicy brisket, smoked sausage, barbecue chicken or beef ribs, a better barbecue plate is hard to come by. For something a little outside the norm, you might want to try the lamb ribs. Be sure to get a helping of the homemade beans and potato salad, too. Finally, don't forget desert; the fresh-baked sweet potato pie is a real treat. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Coffee, cats and chai |
7920 Fredericksburg Rd (behind Grill on the Hill restaurant) San Antonio, TX 78229 United States +1 210 692 9600 |
What it lacks in friendly service, Calcutta makes up for in atmosphere. Hidden behind the Grill on the Hill restaurant in the Medical Center, this unassuming house-turned-coffeehouse welcomes everyone from poets and artists to students and business executives. If this place were any more laid back, it would fall over. Surreal paintings with a religious motif clutter the walls inside, and a couple of fat cats claim squatter's rights on the quaintly mismatched chairs and tables. Espresso, cappuccino, latte and the now-popular chai are served day and night along with breakfast, lunch and dinner. If you're not one for java, several bottled beers are also available. 52 different margaritas |
2026 Babcock Rd San Antonio, TX 78229 United States +1 210 615 7000 http://www.cha-chas.com |
The festively named Cha Cha's, located in the heart of the Medical Center area, is big on atmosphere. The decor ranges from traditional and somewhat boring to elegant and quaint. For a romantic dinner, ask for a table in the gazebo section. Each secluded table is surrounded by a white wrought-iron dome laced with (ahem, plastic) ivy. However, after a few of this place's 52 varieties of margaritas, you won't care. Expect to find the usual Tex-Mex favorites: enchiladas, tacos and fajitas. The second Cha Cha's location is at 5616 Bandera Road in San Antonio (+1 210 681 2066). Review © 2007, Wcities |

4531 NW Loop 410 (exit Callaghan) San Antonio, TX 78229 United States +1 210 340 7944 |
Of the many Chinese restaurants in San Antonio, this establishment holds the distinction of being the only one on stilts. This unique restaurant on the outskirts of the Medical Center offers a satisfying menu of Szechuan, Cantonese, Hunan and Mandarin style cuisines. Traditional and comfortable, this restaurant is more elegant than most. Ding How offers both lunch and dinner specials. At night, order a la carte or from several combination plates starting at USD10.25. Family dinners for anywhere from USD19.95 for two people and from USD59.95 for six people.
