Exquisite dining pleasure |

This restaurant offers a mix of both Texan and Mediterranean flavors. Among its specialties and other highly requested items are the Pecan Crusted Prime Rib and the Jumbo Sea Scallops. If your taste runs more toward traditional Texas home cooking, try the Wild Mixed Grill, which consists of four different meats accompanied by potatoes. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is inviting, making this a great place when you're planning for that special dinner. Also open for breakfast and lunch. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Steaks, seafood and Southwestern specialties from deep in the "haute" of Texas. Located on San Antonio's famous River Walk, Boudro's is often the restaurant for spotting visiting celebrities. Don't miss the fresh Guacamole (made tableside), the Prickly Pear Margaritas or the blackened Prime Rib. And be sure to dine with friends so you can order one of every dessert to share. Boudro's is a favorite among locals and tourists alike and books quickly. Dining is available indoors, riverside, and on river barges with advance reservations. Quaint Mexican Restaurant on the River Walk |
527 River Walk San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 223 2939 |
While the city, along with the River Walk for that matter, is overrun with Mexican restaurants, this one distinguishes itself by offering both a beautiful view of the River Walk and a quiet atmosphere. Along with a friendly wait staff, Cafe Ole offers patrons sweet serenades of Mexican mariachis on a nightly basis. The mariachis are one of the defining local Hispanic traditions and really give guests an authentic taste of the culture that makes San Antonio unique. The menu is more Tex-Mex than pure Mexican, but includes tasty fajitas, enchiladas, flautas and quesadillas to name a few selections. This restaurant is also known for its good selection of margaritas. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Casa Rio was the first restaurant on the River Walk and is still a must if you have never eaten riverside. With colorful décor, inside and outside seating, and a prime location for people-watching, this restaurant is a favorite among both tourists and locals. Add potent, thirst-quenching margaritas, waitresses bustling about in Mexican sundresses, and Mexican favorites such as enchiladas and tamales, and you have the makings of the classic Tex-Mex dining experience. Because no reservations are taken and this is a hot spot, you may want to arrive a little early to avoid long lines. Review © 2007, Wcities |

True Texas barbecue on the River Walk |
111 West Crockett San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 229 1941 http://countyline.com/ |
This is the kind of barbecue you dream about. The County Line serves up a variety of tender meat, slow-cooked for 18 hours, that literally falls off of the bone and melts in your mouth. Located on the River Walk, this restaurant not only offers a spectacular view, but also affords downtown visitors an opportunity to enjoy the "state meal" without venturing far from their hotels. Not a beef eater? Don't despair; the barbecue chicken, turkey, pork and sausage are equally tasty. All entrees come served with generous portions of sides, including classic potato salad, beans and coleslaw. For dessert, be sure to try one of the fruit cobblers. A full bar is available, but real Texans drink ice cold beer with their barbecue. Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Raucous Time on the River Walk |
406 Navarro San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 224 0026 http://www.dickslastresort.com |
This is by far one of the rowdiest restaurants on the River Walk, so diners can expect loud music, great food, cold beer and steely attitudes from the waitstaff. Do not take your in-laws or your children; unless, of course, they can swig a longneck and crack crab legs with the best of 'em. The food here is good and has a definite Cajun flavor. All entrees either arrive in a bucket (crawfish and crab legs) or on top of butcher paper (hamburgers, ribs, chicken). It's messy, but fun. The crowd tends to get a little crazier the later it gets, as the restaurant gradually morphs into a full-fledged bar with live music every night. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Italian Cuisine, Belly Dancers and Jazz on the River |
106 Riverwalk (next to Sze-Schuen Chinese Restaurant) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 222 9998 |
A small awning above a rosemary-green door gives the only indication that this little Italian restaurant has carved out some space on the River Walk. If you're having trouble finding it, just follow the smell of garlic or look for the crowd of people waiting to get in. Warm candlelight casts lazy shadows on the white rock walls, and low ceilings settle over intimately fixed tables. Add in some live jazz music and belly dancing and you've got one of the most quirkily romantic, one-of-a-kind restaurants in the city. Almost anything you order is guaranteed to be delicious. Try Linguini with Asparagus, Mostacolli with Meatballs or Stefania's Gorgonzola Pasta at this truly unique eatery. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Located just south of downtown in the area aptly named Southtown, this artsy little coffeehouse is small, but it is a favorite with the locals. Don't let the name fool you, as Karam's offers some of the best Mexican food in town. Cheery yellow tables and red chairs are complemented by piñatas hanging from the ceiling, and an authentic Mexican trio plays music on Friday and Saturday nights. If you discovered Karam's long enough ago, you may have heard Selena (yes, that Selena) and the Dinos perform here live. After dinner, walk off the enchiladas, puffy tacos and margaritas among the Mayan "ruins" in the back. Dining just does not get more Texan than a cold beer and a good steak, and that is what you get at the Little Rhein. This famous River Walk restaurant is housed in the oldest two-story structure in San Antonio, which was built in 1847. Antique memorabilia decorates the walls and takes you back to an age when Texans sat down to dinner with their six guns. The menu contains a variety of steaks, ranging from filet mignons to T-bones to rib eyes. All steaks are served with salad, baked potato and "Texas Caviar" (deliciously seasoned, baked black-eyed peas). Review © 2007, Wcities |

Look for the statue of the Scotsman in full regalia to locate this fun bar with a British/Scottish theme on the River Walk. Enjoy a wide selection of both imported and local beers on tap while watching the crowds pass by from your patio table. The menu is definitely pub-oriented, but its offerings are rather tasty. Expect the usual steaks, fish and chips and sandwiches. While the food is good, the fun atmosphere, billiard tables, dart board, video games and large beer selection are the main attractions. One of the prettier restaurants on the River Walk, Michelino's has an excellent seating area that seems to compliment the surroundings. This seasoned restaurant is popular with both tourists and natives. The festive interior and good food make it a hot spot just about anytime you go, but the lunch crowd is especially fierce; go before 11:30a or expect to wait an hour to get a table. Also, this is one of the few Tex-Mex restaurants in town that is open on Sundays. The food at Pico de Gallo is well made and served with generous portions. Try the crunchy chalupas with spicy beans and loads of toppings, or the carne guisada, which isn't served on a taco, but on a plate with rice and beans. The fajitas are good, and every meal is served with chips and tasty, but not too hot, salsa. From time to time, the restaurant hosts live music. Review © 2007, Wcities |
