"Where heaven and health meet" |
21 Brees Blvd San Antonio, TX 78209 United States +1 210 822 7681 |
Although the term "healthy Mexican food" seems like an oxymoron, somehow these folks make it work. While it is a little off the beaten path, any restaurant that can make enchiladas, refried beans and tortillas low-fat, healthy and delicious is worth a visit. Your best bet is to try the tamales, the enchiladas or the chalupas with sides of Mexican rice and either refried or black beans. For an interesting twist, opt for the whole-wheat tortillas. Splashed with wild colors and funky ethnic decorations, the interior is small but inviting. The faithful arrive early for lunch and dinner to garner the best tables, with larger groups either claiming their space at the semi-private back tables. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Romantic restaurant in a scenic setting |

Best known for its tempting menu and its romantic setting, Grey Moss Inn is worth the short drive out of the city. Dine by candlelight on fresh seafood or on a perfectly grilled steak. Enjoy cocktails or dessert by the crackling fireplace or on the tree-lined patio. Thoughtfully, the chef prepares both heart-healthy and vegetarian dishes in addition to the meat-centric menu. Reservations are strongly recommended. Private banquet rooms are available. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Aromatic Indian cuisine |

Exotic spices infuse the plentiful and wonderfully aromatic dishes at one of San Antonio's few Indian restaurants. If you're not sure you like Indian cuisine, venture in for lunch. For the uninitiated, the lunch buffet is a bargain at $6.95. You can sample such traditional dishes as beef curry, chicken with spinach, and tandoori chicken. Tandoori dishes are prepared in the restaurant's authentic tandoor, a high-temperature, wood-burning clay oven that cooks everything from chicken to shrimp. When you're ready to expand your horizons and try some more sophisticated Indian cuisine, ask your server for a primer. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to help you decide among the many authentic lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable dishes. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant Indian Dining |
4535 Fredericksburg Rd (across from Crossroads Mall) San Antonio, TX 78201 United States +1 210 737 3166 |
If you are in the mood for something different but a little familiar, Simi's is the place to go. The restaurant overcomes its strip-mall location with a truly elegant setting. A rich red carpet leads to cinnamon-colored booths and chairs around white-clad tables. Traditional Indian music plays softly in the background as waiters move quietly in and out of the kitchen. As with most restaurants that serve Indian cuisine, Simi's offers several selections prepared in an authentic tandoor oven. Try the Tandoori Shrimp ($11.95) or Tandoori Snapper ($9.95). A lunch buffet ($6.95) lets you sample a few of the more popular dishes, and at night, you can choose from several combination dishes. The small bar pours a decent selection of beer and wine. Sleek look, tasty food |
18802 Stone Oak Parkway San Antonio, TX 78258 United States +1 210 403 3316 |
A curvy design and tasty food distinguish this upscale Chinese restaurant on San Antonio's far north side. The inviting interior is dominated by buttery yellow walls with crimson and black accents and lots of Chinese prints. On any given night, you'll find families celebrating a night out, couples just in from playing tennis at the near-by country club, and singles popping in to place take-out orders. Alongside traditional Szechwan entrées, you will find more inventive dishes such as the spicy Pasta Delight, Sautéed Lamb Hunan Style, Volcano Chicken and Sausage Fried Rice as well as a good selection of steamed entrées under the "Diet Dishes" heading. At dinner, all items are offered a la carte, but the lunch crowd and early birds arriving between 5pm and 6pm can order a complete meal for $6.50-$7.50. Review © 2007, Wcities |
