Service at its Best |
401 S Alamo San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 224 8800 / +1 877 365 0500 http://www.thefairmounthotel-s... |
One of the city's finest hotels, the Fairmount specializes in service rather than in trying to cram as many people into one property as possible. Moving from its original location in 1985 proved to be a monumental event. This historic hotel was loaded on 30 rubber-tired dollies and slowly lugged down the street to its new home. Its award-winning restaurant, elegant lobby and well-appointed guestrooms make it a favorite among tourists and locals looking for a luxurious escape. Guestrooms feature in-room coffee makers, iron and ironing board, dataports, terrycloth robes and hairdryers. In 2004, The Lancaster Group in Houston took over the management of the Fairmount and began extensive renovations on the hotel to return it to the status of "San Antonio's little jewel." This fabulous facility has been named as one of Conde Nast's Top 50 American Hotels and is a four-star, four-diamond property. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Historic Hotel Downtown |
205 East Houston (at St. Mary's St) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 227 3241 http://www.gunterhotel.com/ |
This historic hotel is located downtown, directly across from the restored Majestic Theatre, which is home to the San Antonio Symphony. There isn't a more beautiful or more regal hotel lobby in all the city. If you select another hotel to stay in, at the very least drop in to see the finely detailed carved mahogany columns, the luxurious carpets and the antique light fixtures in the lobby. The guest rooms are just as lovely, although they vary a bit in size—a charming illustration of the hotel's age. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Beautiful Hotel on the River Walk |
200 South Alamo St (at Market) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 222 1400 http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/ho... |
This beautiful River Walk hotel was built specifically to accommodate visitors of the 1968 World's Fair. Curiously, it was built modularly, with each nearly complete guest room lifted into place by crane in order to meet the construction deadline. Every room features a private balcony and the hotel's beautiful lobby features intricately detailed mosaic paintings and tiles. This property is known for its impeccable service. The hotel boasts the longest consecutive run of Four-Diamond recognition by the American Automobile Association (AAA). Review © 2007, Wcities |

A Popular Choice with Business and Leisure Travelers |
611 Northwest Loop 410 (between San Pedro and Blanco) San Antonio, TX 78216 United States +1 210 340 6060 http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/ho... |
This property's close proximity to shopping, dining, entertainment and the airport makes it a popular hotel. Renovations made in the mid-1990s improved its appearance and some say its comfort level. The center courtyard and pool are beautiful, and the conference space is ample for borderline-large groups. A special draw is Tex's Sports Bar, a popular gathering place for fans of all sports. More than 13,000 combined square feet of meeting space (divided between two floors) can accommodate several thousands of guests depending upon the room configuration. Complete banqueting capabilities are also available. In-room amenities include data ports, voicemail, irons and ironing boards, coffeemakers and hair dryers. Children younger than 18 stay for free. Golf enthusiasts can practice on the hotel's nine-hole putting green before heading out to one of the city's challenging courses. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Elegant Oasis in the Hill Country |
9800 Hyatt Resort Drive San Antonio, TX 78251 United States +1 210 647 1234 http://hillcountry.hyatt.com/p... |
Formerly a working hill-country ranch, this hotel is now one of three resorts that calls San Antonio home. The property was designed to create the feeling of a large ranch house, and it works, especially while you're rocking on the back veranda, curling up in an overstuffed chair in front of the lobby fireplace or stretching out under the trees as the kids play in the pool. The resort is a beautiful sight to behold, having been constructed of native materials and landscaped with native plants. Adjacent to the resort is a challenging 18-hole golf course offering one of the best rounds in the San Antonio area. There is also a huge double green that serves both the 9th and 18th holes. Elegant and Exotic |
555 South Alamo (at Durango) San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 229 1000 http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2... |
Although it's the third deluxe Marriott downtown, this property is distinct in several ways. Exotic birds and sparkling fountains enhance the lush central courtyard, historic homes relocated to the hotel grounds serve as banquet rooms, and an adjacent historic building serves as the hotels conference center. As an added plus, the exterior architecture is modeled after San Antonio's Spanish Colonial homes. This is definitely not your average hotel. Review © 2007, Wcities |

Historic hotel near the Alamo |
204 Alamo Plaza San Antonio, TX 78205 United States +1 210 223 4361 http://mengerhotel.com/page/nt... |
This historic hotel is located on Alamo Plaza, literally next door to the famed Alamo. Built in 1859, it's one of the oldest buildings in the city and is the oldest continuously operating hotel west of the Mississippi River. Two American presidents became enamored with the hotel: Former President Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders enjoyed hanging out at the Menger Bar, and President Bill Clinton developed a penchant for the hotel's proprietary mango ice cream during his visits to the city. As with most of the city's oldest buildings, this hotel is reportedly haunted by as many as 32 different, friendly spectres. Review © 2007, Wcities |

There is no doubt that the St. Anthony is one of the classiest, most elegant hotels around. Since 1909, this four-star hotel has been a home away from home for thousands of visitors as well as a few celebrities, including John Wayne. It's perfectly situated downtown, as it is far enough away from the throngs for you to spend your wedding night here, but close enough to host a festive weekend getaway.
