This non-profit organization devotes itself to preserving, protecting, interpreting and restoring the downtown San Diego buildings that once made up the thriving black community called the "Harlem of the West." Back when Harlem in New York City was in its heyday, a vibrant community with a rich culture, a similar community was thriving in downtown San Diego.
