Hillcrest is an upscale, residential area of San Diego, featuring tree-lined streets and pedestrian-friendly construction. This older neighborhood is known to be a tolerant one, and because of this, has become a commercial and residential hub of the gay community in the area. The LGBT Center and a number of gay bars are located in Hillcrest, and the San Diego Gay Pride Parade takes place here every year.
