The Cabrillo National Monument is probably the most famous landmark in the area. It is home to The Old Point Loma Lighthouse, which was built in 1855. Visitors can enjoy guided tours and impressive views of the coastline, as far down as Mexico, and at the right time of year migrating whales are also visible. Sport-fishing expeditions also leave the area regularly. The San Diego Sports Arena, now the iPayOne Center, where a number of local sports teams and musical groups play, is located nearby.
